OK anyone got a large truck to hit my car with. Wobble came back today. Was having a blast around Bedford autodrome [ our wind tunnel is on the airfield] and at 120 to 140 the wobble came back! Lower ball joints? Prop shaft?

I wouldn't usually say this in your situation... Is it worthwhile paying a top indy have a look and just pay up the diagnostics? Telling them what you have done so far would help them narrow it down faster.

Is a wheel wobble at those speeds really going to bother you on day to day driving..?
I understand its annoying to know somethings not perfect but that is hardly a speed you will be doing daily..

My e46 used to have a terrible shudder at high speed (I worked in Germany so noticed it daily ) . Front and back. It was the undertray, arch liner and brake cooling duct. Aero is so important on modern cars.

Can understand your point but , still means that the issue I have been chasing for ages is still there. A mate suggested having the prop shaft checked but , I would assume the vibration would be there at every speed if it was at fault.

Hey Phil , yes I do but it has always done it with or without spacers.

May just have to live with it and hope it dont comeback at lower speeds.

If prop was out of balance it will depend on rpm and amount of imbalance, as to when/how bad the effect is.

Years ago, bloody Williams mechanics cable tied a load of wheel weights to the prop of our team minibus, then bet us they could beat us back to the hotel. Vibration and noise only became apparent at 60Kph, 5Kph above or below, it was hardly noticeable. Then some of the weights eventually flew off and the shaking was at a different speed.

Have you checked to see if any of the spot welded balance weights have gone missing ?? But maybe it won't be obvious now as it has been a while since it started, but you should be able to spot the bits of spot weld.

Better get it sorted soon, while you still have some money, coz looks like no big bonus for RB this year !

At the moment I will be happy with 2nd , Merc got a big jump on us and Renault screwed us over

Which springs have you fitted?
Shame they didnt go another 5-10mm lower on the rear.

Sorry for the late reply , they are Apex springs. Just about to install Koni Shocks as well so will see how it sits and go from there.

Was told my wobble and rear end issues maybe dow to shocks allowing the rear end to go to far out of normal travel, possible?

Want to fit my Koni dampers at the weekend , watched a video on Bav Tech [ think that was its name] and it seems quite simple to do. Is it really as simple as 2 nuts ?
