Are you sure the two plugs in the back are all the way in? You need to swing that tab until it locks in the open position, then press it all the way in and it should swing it shut. If that makes any sense.

And to Carlos, yes my car is a 2006 E90 325

Thanks for the suggestion 7786 - I did make sure all connections were made tightly. I've actually taken the unit out of the car now and the climate control problem remains.

There are just too many issues with this unit to live with, really disappointed and eonon just ignore emails regarding a refund, I'd definitely advise anyone thinking about it not to do it!

Issues for me included:

- 'Popping' noise from speakers on turning on/off changing functions, muting etc.

- Parking sensors don't speed up the closer you get to something, just a steady beep from about 4 ft, so useless (plus the sound is awful from the inbuilt speaker).

- The obvious problem as previously mentioned that the 'plug and play' unit doesn't actually fit!

- Orange button colour is nowhere near the colour of the rest of the dash.

- Very very cheap and tacky construction. Plastic doesnt match the rest of the dash. Button presses nine times out of ten result in a 'stuck down' button meaning you have to tease it back out.

- If you have a right hand drive car the heated seat controls will heat the wrong/opposite side, same goes for door open warnings.

So anyone wanting a unit that looks oem, and is plug and play - this is 100%, definitely not for you!!

Hi dave83, i just checked you have not PM me the problem before but sent email to our website email box. Actually, you can PM me directly, i will definitely help you out.
Actually, our colleague do not mentioned we can not refund you but only want to confirm the problem with you further.

Regarding the issues you mentioned, firstly, for the 'Popping' noise, we have not got any other feedback from our customers. We afraid it is caused by the power or the protection of the electric current is not enough. And if your car has Bose system, customer need purchase some adapter for connection.

Regarding the 2.4.5.6 issue, we are collecting more information and testing for the unit. But please trust us, we will resolve it definitely. Just please give us some time to handle it. Thanks a lot!

And dave83, for your case, please do not worry, we are a responsible seller,we will arrange return and refund for you. I will PM you more details about return soon. Thanks again

Carlos,

For how much time do I have to wait to see my problems solve?
I've this car for about 7 years and now I lost PDC function installing eonon radio : wrong warning beep, as I've sent you on video, and like other users reported here.
For me this is the main reason that make me think on returning this unit.
waiting for your reply.

Not to add fuel to the fire, but its been an entire week since Eonon received my unit for repairs and have yet to hear anything back in regards to ...ANYTHING ! Either its repairable, or not repairable, but in either case, common courtesy is to give an update to the repair/replace.

I dont want to be on the negative bandwagon, and still believe for the $$ you get alot out of this radio, but the customer service is disappointing.

Meanwhile, D5165 cannot work with LOG7 without modification as we mentioned before. But we may make it work with LOG7 in the future. Thanks a lot!
I have an e92. And how long into the future will I have to wait until your unit works with the Logic 7? That point of having to make modifications with BMWs with the Logic 7 system was NEVER mentioned at your website, or on ebay, where I purchased my unit. That may have changed, but when I bought mine in the last week of August, all that was stated was that this unit is plug-and-play. How untrue...

Hi sgm335i, we are not sure when the unit plug and play with Logic 7 at the moment. But as we mentioned in this thread that D5165 can not work with Logic7 until you do some modification. You can check the post of douwe22 and shaushshaush here for more details. They both modified and it works fine.
And thanks for your suggestion, we will put more notification on the description. Thanks a lot!

Hi Carlos,

Before I do the updates, please answer me:
  1. I've now the two softwares. BMWE90_MCU and BMWE90_TW. Is there any order to update them? First MCU and then TW, or TW and then MCU?
  2. About BMWE90_TW: the instructions says:"Disconnect the power and reset the head unit". You mean to turn off the radio pressing the power button or to unplug the rear cables of the radio, cutting off 12V?
  3. The two softwares are to solve the PDC and Radar Open Door Sensor problems, or just for Radar Open Sensor problem?
  4. For PDC working properly it's only needed the new can bus box, or an software upgrade plus?
  5. These softwares have been tested for the model of my vehicle a bmw 320d touring (E91) 2006?
  6. If software updating causes an irreversible error in radio, as happened to the user shaushshaush who had to send back the radio to the factory to fix it, who is responsible for shipping costs?

I remember that EONON announces and sold a radio with specific features compatible with this car, and that EONON recognizes that there are still upgrades and repairs to do. Therefore, I should not be paying for any shipping costs if any errors happen due to updates that EONON are asking me to do.

Waiting for your reply.

That's why I didn't ship mine back. It's too expensive. For a unit with this many problems, requiring "modifications" and the misleading description of plug and play, I am completely unhappy.

Hi! I have a bmw 320d msport 2007 and im not sure if this will fit very well? does it fit flush or does it fit how the pictures show, I am a product designer and the images in the videos are computer rendered. I am a little unsure of this product. also how will I update the maps each year? do you have an online site which supports downloads for new maps? also one more thing does the video play back pause while I'm driving or will I have to fit in a relay myself? I have attached what my current system looks like, thank you!

ongy88 - that's the system I have, you will encounter a lot of issues with this unit, the fact it doesn't fit into the dash, plus the fact it isn't actually properly compatible with the BMW professional system (the speakers will make a 'popping' noise on any change of function, radio search, turning on/off etc), along with a lot of other problems listed on this thread.

Also, the functions its advertised to have (parking sensor funcionality etc) don't actually work.

I find it unbelievable that the unit wasn't properly tested prior to being put on the market, and unfortunately, it seems the only way to get Eonon's customer services to respond is by posting on public forums.

Hi bmgp, regarding the questions, here are the answers for you.
1. there is no order to update the 2 software.
2. "Disconnect the power and reset the head unit", we mean to turn off the radio pressing the power button
3. The software is only for resloving Radar Open Sensor problem
4. For PDC, you only need a new can bus Box
5. Yes, the software can work with the bmw 320d touring (E91) 2006 and please follow the instructions to update the head unit. And If software updating causes an irreversible error in radio, we will cover the postage
Thanks a lot and please give us update after the upgrading. Thanks.

Hi sgm335i, it can not work with Logic7 audio system as we mentioned before. we have not stated on the official website that the unit is plug and play also. But if you still do not like the unit. would you mind sending it back, we can issue refund to you also. Thanks

Hi ongy88, thanks for your interesting. If your car has no Logic7 system, then it should has no problem in installation. Since actually, only dave83 mentioned the 'popping' noise, it could be caused by the installation issue.

And for the reverse radar and also the radar door open issue, we have already resolved it by software update and also the new canbus box. Welcome to order it now. Since the GB will end tomorrow. Thanks a lot!

I think its a great product and dont believe that bmw doesn't make something similar, however i would still like to see more fittings rather than computer generated images with the product installed, i expect the product to finish flush with everything else and the buttons to respond close if not similar to the original buttons, i might be asking for alot for such a great price, but money is money and i want to be happy with any product i buy no matter the price. thank you Dave83 for your response and i guess i can wait for more reviews, paying a little extra and missing out on this group buy is a bummer but i guess paying extra for assurance isn't bad at all.

I just installed this unit last night on a 2007 328i without Logic 7. Here are some things to be aware of:

First:
Cutting this piece will not do anything to help the bottom fit better. Once the thermostat controls are installed, it takes up the same amount of space.

Picture stolen from ShaushShaush

Modifications have to be made to the car.

Also, these tabs need to be cut.

Thermostat housing needs to be trimmed a bit. Someone else has mentioned this in an earlier thread.

This is how the bottom will look once installed.

My thoughts so far (I have not had a chance to play with everything):

1. This unit is much louder than the factory unit.
2. Bluetooth works great.
3. GPS works great.
4. DVD works great.
5. Video quality is great.
6. I do not have a back up sensor.
7. I will be installing a backup camera.

I hope this helps.

KL335i cool how you made it to fit a lot nicer, however its still not the best of finish, having to mod the part is fair play. but having to cut my actual car isn't something worth doing in my opinion. however i still think its a great product for it's price but it's just not at the standard i want right now.

I am having a little bit of a problem with handsfree bluetooth. Once connected, the head unit and the phone microphone both pickup voice. I have an iPhone 4.
