Thanks.
I just sent them a letter in which I included our gripes with degraded performance post s/w update. I also included autoblog's article, pointed out their official advertising related to elimination of a turbo lag, mentioned our future actions and linked this 100+ page thread. So, let's hope that: 1. they will bother to read e-mail in English 2. do something about it |

but it definitely seems like some people have the later software and yet don't experience the lag.

Just read the thread with Swift on the ! forum. It seems there is some confusion on what version they hace, just as it is here sometimes. The op referred to a version that has already been updated by the one that was subsequently cancelled. (Pavels version). I have never driven a 1 series so I am not sure how the lag feel is in those compared to the 3. Is it the same degree,? Also, did the one series have a pre 29.2 version that a lot of the owners were able to drive so they would know the difference?

My car goes in tomorrow for 31.1 - the garage called me today to confirm the timing. When I explained the problem to them I talked about throttle response. In the call today they used the words turbo-lag. This didn't come from me, this must be from BMW, reading this forum or another customer with 335i.
I've also got ticking tappets on a cold start. I'm less concerned with that for now.

It was in a positive way, something like "you're bringing you car in tomorrow to have its software updated due to turbo-lag". If he's fully aware of the issue, and I suspect he is, then he's either buying time hoping to keep me happy or he thinks the new software will at least help.

It is pathetic that we in the US are not getting any information from our dealerships and the BMW NA as to the resolution of this f'n issue. I wonder how long you guys are prepared to wait before raising the hell.

You want to know when there will be information and resolution? Based upon what is going on here it will be when our warranty ends and they tell us we need new turbo's and actuators to support a S/W upgrade.

I'll report back about this time tomorrow. I'm not expecting the lag to be fixed, the optimist in me hopes for some improvement and full recognition of the issue at the dealer.
