Anyone here good with messing with stock maps? Need to adjust the throttle mapping on an MSV80.

Replaced spark plugs on the 528i (N52) and 335i (N55).

Top are from the N52. Amazing it ran as well as it did. Truly impressed with the motor. Also shout out to the F10 chassis - took me maybe 30 min to change the plugs out. No cowls, wiring harnesses in the way. Just unbolt the vanity cover and the DME bracket, and you’re done. Stark contrast to the E90…

The ones from my N55 were definitely original. Made a huge difference too - no lurching from shifting from 2-3.

Prepping to do the radiator later today or tomorrow depending on when it is delivered. While underneath the car I replaced the rubber piece suspending the power steering hoses. Was being held up with duct tape and zip ties (quite well may I add) but doing it right now.

So, how many miles on those plugs (the ones from the N52)? Plus they look like they may not have been gaped correctly to begin with.

Around 95K I’d assume. No record of them having been replaced before.

Perhaps the gap changed over time? Not sure if BMW still stamps their OE-branded plugs or not.

Successful radiator swap! I almost went with the CSF one, but in the end Nissens seem fine. Rein lower hose I bought gave me a LOT of trouble seating to the radiator. I hope it's okay, and am going to keep my eye on it. Radiator was original 2006 with 228,884 miles on it. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Buying cars from the PNW is the way to go. I think the cool temps really let the engine run untaxed. Radiator, water pump, T stat, hoses are all original and only starting needing replacing after bring it down to inland SoCal a couple years ago.

Old:

New:

Debris that came out when I drained. I drained and re-filled last year when I did the MM flange and upper hose, and that was similarly funky. I'll do a full flush when I eventually do the water pump.

Finally got around to doing a fluid, filter/pan change on the ZF transmission. Also went ahead and did the mechatronic seals, harness seal and since I was in there went the extra distance and changed out all of the solenoids. Not the worst job, just have to take your time. Followed the ZF docs that came along with the parts and filled it all back up with ZF LG6 fluid. And per the docs with the solenoids, reset the adaptations along with telling the controller that it had new fluid in it. So far shifts a lot better, still want to run through ZFs adaptation re-learn procedure though.

did you replace the radiator due to leaks? miles?

your PNW comment is true - mild climate with very little snow; it rains on occasion up here but i always find weather windows to go top-down.

The upper fitting was starting to let go... small hairline crack on predicted my future! Seventeen year old parts don't owe me a thing!

Also big benefit of PNW is they don't salt the roads due to drainage into hatcheries and water supplies. HUGE plus! Everyone says Cali cars are the way to go, but I think getting from PNW is better!

Installed my Custom M3 DCT cluster in last night courtesy of LMB335IS. It took nearly 3 months of going back and forth, waiting on the custom gauge faces, etc but I think the end result was well worth the wait

Truly 1 of 1 and to my exact specifications. I couldn't be happier

I am sorry to hear

HOAs are utter bullsh*t; nice for the 5% of the time the benefits come in handy but an outright nuisance the other 95% of the time. Also $500/m for the honor/privilege to being policed/harassed in/about your own home. Yeah no thanks!

I've got to actually get some use out of it so I don't become a hardparker

I have the M3 bars but never experienced my cabin cowl breaking, wow! Alongside my Cluster I also adjusted my wipers finally, my windshield cowl, wiped down/cleaned/reconditioned the plastic, got that whole area nice and pretty

Also adjusted/replaced my side skirts/mounting brackets/clips. One mod at a time, one weekend at a time

my recent purchase (dec) of my beloved 2013 335is e93 n54's provenance looks like this:

-initially delivered to and sold in honolulu in may 2013
-next stop was renton wa (fatefully near me!) for appx 5-6 yrs
-next stop was san jose (campbell) where i flew down, fell in love and drove her home to the seattle area (went pch all the way to mid-oregon and then hwy 20 to i-5 n to seattle) to stay away from i-5's southern oregon mountain passes in the dead of winter....

Seattle from 05-09
Portland from 09-21
Redlands from 21 to the present!

And I mis-spoke: Water pump was changed out at 140k.

I spied an E90 with a hood switch for an alarm on the LKQ/PYP site, and rushed over within an hour. Unfortunately it had already been in the yard for a week and someone got to it first. Siren and switch were both pulled, but for some reason they left the ultrasonic dome sensor. Anyway, it and the louvered housing are mine for $19! I'm one third of the way there!

I've got some extra wiring harnesses for that and may have some of the extra bits somewhere if you're interested lol

Unless this is for the 06 then you're already prewired

Yes, it's the '06, so I just need the hood switch and wheel well siren.
Would definitely be interested if you had those. Bummed that I was so close to getting the pieces... those things are surprisingly rare at the wrecker. I could buy them off of ebay, but what's the fun of that!?!?!

Forgot to add this the other day. Picked up the headers and valve cover for the 330 in the 328

Why have two N52 powered E90 xi's? Couldn't tell ya. But it is so fun experiencing how vastly different the two are
