Fitted another Front Flex Disc/Giubo. 🙄
The last one was fitted 2500miles ago in Dec 22'

It was fitted correctly, but have since had a slightly uprated clutch kit fitted and car is probably running 230+bhp and unknown torque. (Never Dyno'd)
E91 320d 6 speed manual.

Im hoping its because it appears to be a no-name special (origins of which I cant remember, but no doubt an Ebay purchase a few years ago which only got fitted in Dec last year) its replacement should last a fair while longer as its a Febi Bmw part.

To be fair, job can be done in an hour by myself as Nothing apart from gearbox undertray needed to be removed to swap out.

Safe to say it has had it.. Huge vibes thru floor at 2000rpm + especially in 2/3 gears. 🙄

Wow, quite the cautionary tale there! Thanks for posting the difference... can't believe that was only 2,500 miles. Looks closer to 100,000! Which reminds me I need to do mine, but I figure I'll do diff and rear subframe at the same time. Hence my procrastination!

As said, bought it years ago but never fitted it. Then in Dec last year bought a rear disc and gearbox mounts and fitted them all as car has high mileage. Then after having a new Clutch fitted in March this year I discovered the centre bearing carrier was torn and worn out. Replaced that and all was well for a bit. Started to get vibes again a week or so ago, and discovered this!. It was a pattern part and I think its inferior quality and thats why with the extra torque the car has over stock, its fallen apart in 2500 miles.. at least thats what Im hoping. 🤞

Friend noticed my tire was flat. Of course, I see a nail in it.

Had it repaired this morning and it was flat when I picked it up with my other vehicle. Turns out the weld I had done 3 years ago did not want to hold.

Finished accumulating parts for an oil cooler retrofit. The OFH and cooler are used, but the rest was purchased new. That splits the difference on a new complete kit which is a bit spendy. Thinking it will be a straightforward job, but you know how easy jobs go...

Here is the box as delivered this afternoon. The box was crushed and the tape over the top was totally off. Luckily FCP did a good job packing and everything was there!

And thanks to Serf27 & BRG_N54 for mentioning that the interior sensor can be used in isolation!
I installed it and the flashy light now works! Score!

Anyone with a hood switch or siren taking up space?

Upgraded my auto high beam mirror to Homelink 4- so now works with both of my garage doors. A used F10 mirror as a donor was cheaper than buying the repeater!

Pulled the #1 spark plug. While the coil faintly still smells of fuel, the plug looks totally fine - not soaked in fuel or evidence of poor combustion, deposits, etc.

Haven’t driven the car in a few days, so we’ll see if the light misfire persists. Hell I’m not even sure if it’s a misfire at this point - RPMs are nice and stable, car fires up immediately, and so on. Maybe I’m just mistaking the PPK tune for a misfire on a cold start?

Oh, and don’t mind the garage messiness - renovations are a PIA…

So does this simple swap out mean that the clown nose blinks without other alarm components? Or coding?

thanks!

The alarm module is the main brain of the system - the clown nose will blink with it installed.

You still need to be pre wired for the alarm system.
Pre wired cars already have the harness in place for the alarm module. Non pre wired cars do not.

I have been ordering from FCP Euro for 5 years now. This last year of packaging has been absolutely horrible. Every package is poorly taped and packaged. All of them are almost opened like above.

I know they will cover down if anything happens, but damn, what happened?

I've noticed that the tape is often coming loose when the packages arrive. It may be they changed tape supplier and the adhesive is not as good.

I have mostly noticed more issues with how the packages arrived with the change over from FedEx to UPS for shipping. I never had anything arrive beat up with FedEx...UPS has been more of a crap shoot coming from FCP.

My box was delivered by USPS, so that's something new. The tape let go on one of the flaps, and the box was severely crushed. I presume the crushing caused the tape to let go, so if it was handled better it wouldn't have been a problem. But the tape probably wasn't put on as well as it could have, or else it wouldn't have come off. Luckily the packing department is better than the taping department, as the box was way over-stuffed with their packing paper. That kept everything in as well as protected it.

But hey, it got here a day early!

Looks VERY straight forward, so I just need to block out some time. It gets VERY hot here in inland Southern California, so figure this could possibly help the car overall. Relatively inexpensive if you get the housing/cooler used. I went new for the coolant pipe, although you can buy rebuild kits on ebay.

Of course I had an emergency radiator R&R a few weeks before I got this...

If you look for a 2011 F10 mirror, they’re typically the cheapest ones on eBay. FYI the clown nose on mine was gray, which I believe makes it a later production ‘11. Look for a mirror with the same circular mounting bracket.

I bought mine for $25.

I'ver been thinking about doing this as well, now that I've learned how the dang cooling system works. I've learned to trust the power of a giant CSF radiator. I was initially thinking about retrofitting the 335 oil cooler into my car, but after seeing that this is how porsche cools its oil I concluded I'd be dumb to try and outsmart them.

The added benefit of the route you're taking is faster time to temp for oil. The n52 takes FOREVER to get to temp on oil!

This is a standard thing on X3 and 530/528 cars, so it's a known thing for the N52!
In fact I pulled it off of a 530i.

I think it just wasn't put on the three series as a cost-cutting decision.

FYI the new kit is pushing $800... crazy!!!
