Off to find a replacement in stock as I need the car for the weekend. On the bright side, I was planning to retrofit Xenons with AHL on the 2011 and now it will get a FRM3 Max Brose in place of the FRM3 LED Basis that was installed.
Any insight on how it happened? Coding already intimidates me immensely, so might as well add to the anxiety level!

Today I drove the 330 around for 20 minutes, no longer experiencing the horrible noise and CEL I was before

Think I got some of the DSC errors out of the way, not sure yet.

Did a sacrificial oil change, went to go for a drive and was greeted with a steering lock error. We shall see if it persists after the battery charges tonight

Best guess is the battery may have been a little weak. Car was sitting for a few days and looks like previous owner installed an Interstate battery, but no idea if it was registered properly with the car (That's one reason I was scanning) so I'm not sure if related. Should have known better as when I started the car this morning I said to myself it felt like it was cranking a bit slower than usual. Add FRM anxiety to the list as it doesn't seem like BMW ever rolled out a permanent solution to this issue other than offering an extended 10yr warranty on the FRM3.

I ordered a second key fob about 16 months ago and finally got it to connect with the car. I also got CA to work with both fobs. Even the single fob that came with the car would not work with CA until now. I feel better with 2 fobs after owning the car for almost 2 years.

I'm also afraid of that. Has anyone used those portable power stations and hook it up to the car whenever you use OBD2 port for a long time?

For those who don't have access to an electrical outlet or garage.

both battery need to be charged and hook up to an outlet : laptop and car.

Ive changed my laptop because of that, the internal battery swollen, it costed more than the laptop to change, so I get a used working one.
Yes I can use the laptop on power only, but wont take the risk to trip on the wire .

For the car, yeah I guess a booster pack could do the trick, but I'm using a ctek charger that can push 14.4v, just to be sure.
You know those car can make funny stuff on a low battery and the car can still start. Ive the feeling 12v and lower, you have a risk of bricking what ever module you flash.

Yeah I know hence the statement: For those who don't have access to an electrical outlet or garage which leaves limited options.

that means the car dont run, because moving the car would be the safest solution for sure.

Like I said a booster will work for sure, tons of people doing this. check if it throw more than 12v and fully charged.
My concern is also the laptop.

i see a lot of kids going yolo with a cheap ass android tablet and nothing hook up on the car battery and it's fine. The risk remain low.

some updates

In a Sreten-like desire to keep things oem, and on the advice of traffic here in this thread, I ordered the euro headlight switch from ebay for 30 bucks or so, and swapped the pcb and labeled buttons to the headlight switch on my 09 lci e91.

also, i finally fixed the rear compartment cover on my e91 whereas the plastic pieces that connect to the car/frame had broken off. I used JB weld to reattach the broken pieces, and reinforced that with a squeegie-like thing that I took that came with an iphone screen protector. I split that in half long ways, and used jb weld to reinforce those areas with the split squeegie thing.

so far so good. id just assume not have to dremel out the plastic and use a cut aluminum a/c outlet faceplate (the angle for the catch on the cover is the same as the angle on the a/c outlet blank faceplate).

lastly, i was smelling fuel upon shutdown on the drivers side, so I removed the rear seats when the fuel tank was almost empty, and replaced the fuel sending unit and the fuel pump. parts from fcp of course. car fires up bang quick now and things could not be smoother when accelerating. It was about time to replace the original sending unit and pump for a 14 year old machine.

oh and did an oil change with lm 5w30 and threw in a bottle of ceratec. sent a sample to blackstone. very curious to get the blackstone report as I added 3qts of oil since last oil change.

I run this car hard and i've got no lights at 158k miles on the odometer.

good times, good times indeed.

Today was a good day. Lot of swearing, but we got it done. The 330 successfully drove (almost without issue) 50 miles. 50 more to go before I drain the oil again. Judging by its current performance on cheap oil, I don't think I'll need to do it more than that.

Just need to resolve all the BS codes and nuances now..

Took the F10 in for rear brakes - BMW Value Service. Got a 440i loaner- drives better than it looks 😂. Road feedback is better than the F30, but the E90 is still way better. Great motor though, and the suspension isn’t Buick-lite anymore.

great to hear that Buick has been eliminated from the BMW gene pool...and now its time to eliminate the Clown-Car kidney grilles

perhaps a 1920's steam locomotive "cow catcher" grotesque metal edifice bolted to the front of it to cover the Clown-Car kidney grilles would be an upgrade....

Mostly because you can see less of it. Was going for a Z4, but this had the I-6 and the Z4 was a 4 cylinder. Figured I didn’t need to look at the thing sitting inside of it 😂. Makes the decision to keep my E90 much easier though.

Flashed MHD Stage 1 V10 today for the first time. Took 18 minutes using the MHD universal WiFi adapter.

I didn't use a charger but I was connected to my friends car with jumper cables, just after we flashed his car. Probably unnecessary considering I have a fresh H8 AGM battery in my car but I didn't know what to expect. He has a 2017 540i, that car uses enet (via the same MHD wifi adapter) and only took 5 minutes to flash.

The power gains are perfect, I'm very happy. There's a noticeable increase in low end torque and the turbos build a lot more boost more quickly at low RPMs. With the Alpina transmission tune it's still very docile in D but spicy in DS.

I originally planned on not flashing anything until I got a bigger intercooler but I might put that off for a while. This seems just fine. But that G30 is a pretty luxurious ride! It definitely makes my E93 feel dated, but my car still has better steering feel.

Turns out the battery wasn't holding a charge well which is why the FRM probably bricked. Battery was reading between 11.3-11.6V. Installed a new genuine battery (now at 12.6V when off), new FRM3 and I'm back on the road (Holidays came early for her!)

Unfortunately I now have a CDA7 code that keeps coming back (DME lost communication with reverse) that I can't clear. Cars running great though, so I can at least make it to my destination and over to someone with ISTA to sort that out.
