That's how my climate here in western CO is too, very sporatic and dry. For example, a few years ago. June, high 70s (F°). A storm's approaching from the North. Hit like a wall, dropped 15° just like that. Next morning we had 10" of snow. 10" is a lot for out here, usually itll only snow a few inches and melt over the course of a week

Last week was low 30s, this week Im enjoying mid 50s. Back to low 30s by the weekend and so on so forth

Thanks!

It’s a process of my own doing, really. I’ll start with a wet sand of 500 grit, and work up in increments of 500 up to 2500. Then I use my 3 inch orbital to polish the crap out of them - Meguiar’s compound and polish.

My final sealant is my “secret-“ wipe-new wipes- it’s basically clear coat wipes. Let that cure for as long as possible (6hrs minimum, longer if you can), and you’re good.

Keep meaning to add Lamin-X plastic wrap to them though.

Okay, so not as exciting as 200, 300, or 400K, but a milestone for me and my E91:

Plus there's a better than naught chance that these cheap ones are indeed cheap. They'll probably fall apart a lot faster than BMW ones. Caps are only $4, but if these work, a good alternative!

Two new tyres fitted today. Michelin CrossClimate2’s.
Got home and saw how grubby the car was, so washed it, only to notice bubbling on one of the alloys. Refurbished less than two years ago. Not impressed.

I went to replace the halogen headlights with Sylvania H7 LED's and they don't seem to fit correctly as I lined up the notch and they sit in the socket off 20 degrees. While I was removing the old halogen the first top wire clip was half dangling off and ended up coming off completely and being that I could see from under the wheel where the two tiny holes were I couldn't replace it.

So, I went to replace the passenger side mirror glass which was cracked and the dealer had super-glued on the face plate. I had to break it up, heat the glass and chip it off piece by piece with a flat head screwdriver only to discover the mirror I bought doesn't fit into the housing.

A little frustrating to be given the wrong sized parts when I am specifically providing the store with the exact year, make, and model. I took a deep breath. Now, I have to search for the receipts, go back to the store if I find them, and order new parts. Then, I get to dive into taking apart either the inner wheel well liner or start disassembling the housing assembly until I can find the two tiny holes where the metal clip fell. Is it just me?

My first post, sorry if it’s formatted wrong! I dropped that clip too, it was in the actual headlight housing itself and I didn’t realize it. Took apart the whole entire fender liner when I could’ve reached it without taking anything apart. Got it back and in the slot within 1 minute.
Good luck!

Picked up a new DME cover and air intake tube from a friend of mine doing a 335 -> 335d swap. The local BMW dealer managed to break them somehow 😑

well done hoody,
the engine compartment is looking very clean and pristine; it appears the oil filter housing has been deep cleaned and repainted w/a silver color paint?

when i purchased my 335is a yr ago, while removing the black plastic engine cover to install new ngk plugs, dinan coils and billet aluminum pcv, i found the referenced cover's left rear area had been HACKED OFF at the area where the allen head fastener bolt attaches the cover at that corner....so i purchased a used, pristine replacement from justsomeparts (now rebranded to oeM Garage) for $80 as a new cover was app $180....my point is that "trained professionals" can find a way to literally hacksaw off parts of a car to remove them.

Nice to see the new/updated screws (silver) on the microfilter in a picture. I was missing one of the original black screws, so ordered the new set in silver, but they are still sitting in a bag. Think I'll go ahead and install them now. Engine bay looks great BTW.

Today I replaced the intake filter and cleaned up the box as I wasn't sure when the previous owner replaced it, glad I did as it was filthy and engine seems to run better now.

The looseness of my new-to-me climate controls was driving me nuts. Found that one of the fasteners for the clip was broken. Small annoyance, luckily I still had my old climate controls. Took everything apart and swapped the front portion over. Gave me the chance to clean it up a bit too. All should be good now.

Finally found the source of an interior buzz/rattle that I had been chasing for months (Drivers side door/dash noise). It's actually the button on the end of the cruise control stalk! I suspect it may be the spring inside of the button that's actually vibrating. Now I just have to figure out how to fix it without having to pull the wheel and disassemble/change out the the entire steering switch unit.

What did I do today?

I discovered a pinhole leak in the top oil cooler line. I went to check my control arms and noticed a small 3" diameter puddle of oil on the ground in front of my passenger side front tire. Then I spotted a oily hose. Wiped it clean and started the car, and I can see the drips slowly leaking out.

I get it, the old hoses exposed to constant heat cycles don't last forever, but on the other hand this isn't too common of an issue from what I can tell. Makes me wonder if the last shop I went to for a walnut blast did some sabotage. I declined all the other recommended service since I was doing it all myself, and the day after the walnut blast one of my vacuum lines split at one of the connectors.

The hoses are easy to replace, that doesn't scare me, but holy F#$* $360 for a pair of rubber hoses with metal tubing attached!?!?!?!?

Went on a small trip last night. Filled up, went to continue on and the car was dead. The hell? Check battery. Loose ground, oops. Emergency tools in battery box to the rescue! Needless to say I could not get the ground to clamp down. It's currently being forced down by my owners manual pouch and some misc items found in my trunk lol

Going to bust out the rubber mallet later and try again. If that doesnt work this will be the first time using battery shims

Took a drive last night, top down. Got up in the AM, went into the garage, top was still down, smelled like Dakota leather. It's the little things!

Absolute insanity. Same dealer that destroyed my oil pan broke off the cabin filter cover bolts. “Trained professionals” my arse. On the other hand they paid for a new oil pan gasket & rod bearings, so I shouldn’t complain too much…

Oil filter housing is original! Gasket is brand new, of course. Engine bay has been throughly degreased and cleaned though! I use 303 Aerospace protectant - pics were from normal driving, all that’s needed is just a quick dusting (which I do before taking it for service, treat the mechanics to a nice engine bay).

Thanks! They were out of necessity but it does look nice! Pro tip: when changing the cabin filter, take out the little rubber gaskets, clean them, and flip them around. They get flattened over time and it seems to seal better.

Drove the 330 a bit. It's fun having an aggressive and obnoxious car when you daily a bone stone stock one
