Had my 193s from a part out that I fitted on my e91 checked and turns out 3 have bends. Back and forth on between repairing these or spending a bit more on aftermarket wheels or something else.

Also my recently painted m sport front bumper is chipping crazy easily after just a month or so of driving so obviously crappy paint work.. guess I’ll be learning to ppf.

Those are pretty special and unique, I'd get them straightened. Just my thinking.

and rare.

looking for them since 8 months.

Found a set at 250$, straight but repaired, and I said 'oh fck it, too far', it was about 50 min ride...

Then saw a rattle can black painted set, but was 700$.

Still looking, spring should bring more sets.

Removed the old 6hp trans cooler lines in preparation for a custom set up for the 8hp. Wow. What at PITA on an xdrive car. Spilled trans fluid all over the belt and absolutely destoried the PS pulley. Ended up removing the PS pump entirely and snipping the old trans cooler lines with a bolt cutter.

The 8hp trans cooler set up is proving to be a more annoying sidequest than I anticipated.

Drove the F10, parked it in my driveway. Realized I’m taking the E90 tomorrow, attempted to restart and move it…

Nothing. iDrive says there’s an ignition malfunction 🤬. And there’s no way to get the damned car in neutral… hopefully it’s the nut in the engine bay securing the positive cable. We shall see tomorrow. It’s raining right now and I don’t want to deal with that…

new year, new half-engine light) my '11 335i got its first half-engine light today after a year of ownership:
Quote:
- DME active codes -
2EE0 - Combustion misfires, several cylinders: Fuel injection deactivation.
2EF4 - Combustion misfire, cylinder 6: Fuel injection deactivation.
2EFE - Combustion misfires, several cylinders: Damaging to catalytic converter or damaging exhaust gas.
2F04 - Combustion misfire, cylinder 6: Damaging to catalytic converter or damaging exhaust gas.

- DME shadow (inactive) codes -
2EF7 Verbrennungsaussetzer: Einspritzabschaltung
what happened was that it drove fine for several miles but after that, it slightly hesitated from the stop (light throttle), and when in 100 yards, it gave me a half-engine light.
Perhaps either the plug or a coil went bad on cylinder #6. the car wasn't driven for a few weeks, and there were some pretty heavy rains during this time. I have noticed before that rainwater tends to puddle around the cylinder 6 area (leaking rain tray?), perhaps it finally killed that coil or perhaps even the injector. Hopefully, it's not the injector, these tend to get stuck on the N55, especially on cylinder 6. going to have to figure this out this weekend. As for the 2EF7, saw that it might be a mapped t-stat error, not "Verbrennungsaussetzer: Einspritzabschaltung" ("Misfire: Injection shutdown") as MHD suggests.

Bought a starter for the F10 - N52 motor. One painful bill from BMW (wanted it on hand for when I do a deep diag dive tomorrow). Ran into a BMW tech at the dealer who also advised me to check the CAS as well for a blown fuse - might not be the starter.

Either way I need the E90 this week. Still can’t believe I can’t get the F10 into neutral…

Best of luck getting that done this weekend.

Just finished up putting an Coolant Expansion tank and new coolant cap. At same time while under the hood I noticed some weeping from my ofh cap so I placed another order for some parts from FCP The nice thing is the normally get to me in about a day and half like BAV Auto used to be.

That will be next along with doing my vanos solenoids. I have cleaned before but I think they are over due to be changed and vanos check valves cleaned. I did finish just in time as the snow has just started and we are expected to get a 8-12 inches tonight. Time to go mount my plow on the Deere.

A dear hit my front end (or maybe I hit it, either way, I’m not admitting) last fall and took out my hood and front grill. Had to get both replaced, and it actually turned out sharp. I also took opportunity to have the front and rear bumpers re-sprayed since some of the clearcoat was starting to peel.

I like how you took those pictures by an abandoned school. That’s how a Scooby Doo episode begins…..

You’ll need to jack up the f10 and turn some screw on the trans to release it from park. Really bad design, there’s really no way to get the car out of park from inside the cabin.

Ugh. That’s what I thought… earlier production models had a manual release under the cupholders, it seems mine just doesn’t have it. Bloody ridiculous. At least it’s in my driveway…

Starter work begins! Should be an interesting 4ish hours.

I hate the starter placement on BMWs... pretty much the one huge complaint I have with these cars. Well, that and not properly sourcing gasket material.

It could be much worse, though. It’s a lot more fun on Audi v6s, wobble extensions all around to get to some hard to reach cat converter bolts and just an overall very unpleasant task. N51/n52 intake manifolds are not too bad to remove, and n54/55 manifolds are very easy.

If it makes you feel any better, the Japanese manufacturers don't do much better. I just fixed the last minor oil leak on my N54 (pinhole leak in the oil cooler hose and leaking oil cooler thermostat gasket) all was good until this morning when I discovered my Honda Pilot has an oil leak.

It's a rubber profile gasket for the VTEC Spool Valve attached to the head of the forward bank; very similar in style to our BMW oil filter housing gaskets and very similiarly leaking. And just like the N52/N54, this leak is directly over the alternator. Fortunately the serpentine belt is dry since it's out of the way. I changed the oil on this car a few months ago and didn't notice any leaks, so it must have happened recently. Now my alternator is covered in oil and a bunch of dust/grime that was attracted to it. Oh and this gasket isn't available from Honda or any OE supplier as a standalone part; I have to buy the whole new valve assembly for $250+. There are Amazon/Ebay versions made in China but they're loaded with spotty reviews. Hard pass on those.
