Scheduled my last oil change under maintenance contract at Patrick, as they were able to get me in this week. Warranty and maintenance expire June 5. SA prints everything off, all good to go. They said it'd be like an hour but it took 2, but I had my laptop I was working from so no big deal.

My car's done, he says since the car's previous oil change was like 6k ago in July 2010, I have to pay $130. I say no way, car is allowed 1 low mileage oil change per year, and if we're going off mileage, it's had 2, on age, it's had 3. He won't show me the records of the oil changes, so all I really have to go off is the service history autocheck provided.

We go back and forth, he says it hasn't been a year since the last oil change. First, I say the maintenance contract lasts 4 years, allowing for 1 low-mileage oil change per year, and based on the autocheck I got for it Inspection I was it's 3rd service, so this will be it's last, 4th oil change under contract, assuming the oil was changed at each of the 3 visits.

Second, I say, it was clear to both of us that I was here for my final oil change under the maintenance plan. Not for just an oil change. If the oil wasn't going to be covered under the terms we had initially discussed, understood, and agreed upon, why wasn't I contacted when it was clear that they were not willing to do the service as discussed. I provided my cell, and was literally about 20ft from the SAs' desks for the better part of 2 hours. Instead they went ahead and did the service, said your car's done, pay us. If after discussing it with me that they were going to maintain that I wasn't entitled to the 4th year oil change, I would have left, gone somewhere else, or done the job myself.

Third, I asked, if I paid for this oil change, was I then entitled to receive an oil change in July under the contract, after it had expired on June 5 - I wasn't.

He goes and talks to whoever, no charge. Recapping that's Bill Jacobs - X, Patrick - X, Motorwerks - OK except they'd always wash my car when I said not to. Next try is Knauz, maybe Laurel, even though it's kinda far

Yea such a PITA to get to. I'm thinking, oil change, how hard can it be. If they really weren't handing my keys back without me paying I would've used my BMWCCA SCCA CSCC & student discounts to get it down to like $5. And then paid them in pennies

I only went to Patrick once when I was in Woodfield and my Red Engine light came on, so drove there and they did a 60K mile service ck and a Software Update and took me to mall for my meeting and picked my up 3 hours later and the baby was ready and washed. The next time I went there was a oil change special, but I stood around for 15 minutes as 2 SA's BS'd in their offices with some old guys, I had no time to lollygag and got pissed and told the girl how long does a customer wait to get service???? She said cant help me, I asked for GM card and left, called him from car and said, you want my business, I live across from Perillo, I am out here for a oil change and I have to wait n wait for a SA? I can walk across the street at Perillo and they jump on me. FU! There was no one else in the service area dropping a car, not even another car??? Guess you dont want to please anyone today, see ya.
