I have been VERY tempted by them! But I need to burn through the 16s I have on there before I can justify fancy wheels!!!
Yeah well I was doing the same with my 17s but after fitting the m sport parts I just couldn’t have the 17s anymore, they felt out of place. Those look great, only thing holding me back is I think the lighter silver shade might look better on my space grey car than the darker ferric grey, but those are actually quite good I think. I’m gonna save and compare around.
If I could find an original never refinished set it would be awesome but doubt there’s many out there anymore.

I love that set, and they would look so great on my E91... but just can't justify it. Looks like they did a good job refurbishing them as well. Seller has a few others, so might be one to follow or hit them up to see what's in the pipeline. Shipping to the States is pretty reasonable IMO as well!

Speaking of said car, I just got the quote to get the paint fixed on the E91... $3,800 for three panels! Really bummed it was that high... I was mentally budgeting around $2k for it.

Wow! I've been trying to put it off, can't wait to see what quote awaits me to repair the clear coat failure on a few of my panels.

This was two w/ clearcoat, and one needing painting. Really a bummer finding out its that high. I'll look around and try to find a guy that'll do it in his garage somewhere... doesn't need to be factory fresh, just better than it currently is! Wish me luck!

Yes, for 3 panels only $3800 is a bit high, but if it's a quality job with blending into neighbouring panels, it's pretty much in the ballpark of today's prices.
I'd expect up to $5k for a full car, but it depends on the area.
Don't go with a cheap paint job. Do it nice or do it twice.
Another option is to hunt down used panels in the same colour and swap them. Your lighter shade may show the differences though.

I paid 420 for some sketchy ish shop to do my bumper and side skirts and they match great. Only issue is it seems they slipped in the prep or the clear coat is too hard and the bumpers finish chips too easily but I would price around. Maybe you can get an in between job price wise

I'd like to find a front fender, but Montago Blue isn't too common
That would be the best move for me, as it would probably match pretty well.
Plus I can bolt it on myself... no coding necessary!

Good Luck! Curious if this quote was with a BMW certified paint shop or even a shop setup with their refinishing materials. Material costs and shop/regulatory costs are way up lately and probably aren't helping the quote. Been trying to avoid the dealership paint shop as assume they will quote much higher.

Just a local auto body place. Well established, been there a while. I pretty much don't want to put as much into the paint as I bought the car for!

It was finally not raining and warm enough for me to be outside.

I replaced the hood struts, tested the new starter (and confirmed the old one was dead as a door nail), cleaned the engine up, tried to install the new starter but couldn’t find the new bolts, attempted to change the oil pressure switch, but couldn’t get it to budge, and organized all the parts that are quickly piling up in my garage (and still couldn’t find the bolts).

greetings strada,
was thinking about the high cost(s) you noted for paint repair and wondered if this is an option; you could do all the prep and perhaps even use high quality aerosol cans to prime the areas, and then collaborate with a local auto body shop and you could apply the color; unsure of the cure time between the color coat and the final clear coat....just a thought:

Très cool, thanks for thinking about me! I'll see if they have something like that around here, but it might be just as easy and of same quality to find someone doing on the side at home or at a shop. And I've decided to just be patient and keep checking car-part and LKQ to see if a donor car comes up! I wish Car-part had a better search feature... it suuuuucks for trying to find something in a specific color :-/

you're welcome!
saw that in one of your recent posts that you're lookiing for a replacement part (fender?) in your specific color.

if/when you get to the point to repaint, your resourcefulness is incredible (ie: junkyard mega-finds, etc) and you are fully capable to do this yourself.

I would LOOOOVE to find a replacement fender in the same color... eight bolts, probably a half hour work. I checked every LKQ within 60 miles and nothing right now!

That's what I've been doing, but their search engine is a potato. They don't have VINs on the cars, so no idea what type of blue it is when it says blue. Plus no pictures, so can't really judge the condition.

I found this place, and can't beat the price:

https://paintnship.com/collections/2...30180596547641

But would much rather get something used so it's weathered/worn and matches the rest of the car's 15 year old paint!
