indeed, aluminum w/black leather is stunning (that was the combo on my imola red 07 z4mr); i have glacier w/saddle leather in my crimson red 335is e93 currently and it's a great match.
love the "crosshatch" pattern in the dark glacier aluminum trim.... Last edited by E93Seattle (Racerbruce); 02-02-2024 at 06:34 PM.. |

Only issues are the scratches on the dash piece (ordered a much better condition one for $85) and scuffs on the passenger front piece towards the very back where the seat belt sits. I’ll try refinishing that piece with a very light coat of silver paint. THere’s a thread somewhere of a person spraying the trim with black paint, a very light coat, to create a black brushed finish (like the new MacBook Pros…). SO hopefully that will work. If not, I can always find another piece on eBay / from the yard. There is some minor wear on the other pieces, but nothing major. A few minor scuffs here and there. Some 91% IPA and a microfiber cloth cleared up the vast majority of the blemishes. As for interiors, yeah, I agree with black + silver. Grey works equally well with either wood/Al, and beige I think would work best with the light poplar the pre-LCIs came with, or the light walnut (seldom seen LCI wood). My car is space gray and the wood was one too many colors in the car, what with the grey headliner. Didn’t help that the wood was faded from the California sun. Burl wood is almost black when new, a very dark brown. Fades to a much lighter brown over time. |

I LOVE the split armrest. Another eBay win, it’s the M3 nappa leather version, got it for $80 (listed as a normal E90 armrest…). Makes the armrest usable. The stock E9x armrest is basically useless. The split one makes it much closer to my E46’s armrest, which was practically perfect. Plus the chrome rods which support the slide out piece are a very nice touch indeed.

I've been having a yellow service engine symbol on start up the last week, and it finally turned red and got me motivated to check it out! Turned out to be a biennial statutory inspection that is active for Chinese market. Why it was active on my car, can't say! Anyway, used the Foxwell to deactivate and feel better about dodging a Chinese inspection!

We have similar in the UK, for the annual inspection known as “MOT”. Again, can be reset yourself via the iDrive.

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

The E90 has two inspection modes, (1) annual state safety inspection, and (2) emissions inspection. Either triggers the car icon with the legal citation section symbol over the hood (roadworthiness) or at the back (emissions inspection) rather than the service-engine-soon light. Both can be reset using the stalk control.

This is finally the first dry day in what felt like weeks, so I torqued down my OFH and then tried to torque down my crankshaft position sensor. Only then did I realize my e Torx socket is 3/8 and I don’t have the adapter for the 1/4 torque wrench that can measure 8 Nm.
Started my Operation Efthreeoh hose replacement since I was doing my radiator anyway. Got as far as taking out the fan before I had to call it a day and bring middle child to the orthodontist. (If my kids’ teeth weren’t so bad, I could have had three E90s by now!) 😂 |

Between the weather, work schedule, and priorities, both cars have been a little neglected. We'll get there eventually. BUT the lighting on the bike is 100% done. Left extras ready for additions, but for now everything is perfect.

Ok. So my CIC has started to reboot again. New hard disk, so it can’t be that. Seems like the NVRAM in the CIC itself is failing.
Bought a used unit out of a 2015 X1 as a replacement. But of course I need to load in my existing FSC certs in order to get the replacement unit to function 100% (I actually use my nav!). CIC was $65 otherwise I’d would’ve just gone for CarPlay. When I figure out how to do it I’ll make a DIY post. Seems like it’s difficult to come across info on how to do it… |

I’m thinking the donor car is already on C1A since it was a 2015. I’ve also got all of my FSC codes from the repair pack website. Working on virginizing the donor CIC and then going from there. |
