Got the headliner back up and all the assorted handles and trims reinstalled yesterday on my lunch break, just need to reinstall the rear of console today to be 95% done with interior for now (still waiting on my e60 cluster to cannibalize the variable redline wheel from tomorrow).
then I can start working on the belt and idler replacement, along with rebuilding the ac pulley so I can drive it again.

I'm hoping I don't have to do OPG anytime soon! I think new valve cover is in my near future though. A small leak from the valvetronic sensor gasket, and I just can't figure out if the other one is from the motor's football gasket or not. Definitely some misting in the general vicinity below it, but not sure...

So, the right-rear intermediate hose seems to have sprung a leak Last weekend I had the Z3 on the rack to replace the tires and rechecked my hose replacements. Saw a small amount of fluid running down the hose. I thought it was just left over from the initial install. I checked the tightness of the connection; all good. Sprayed some brake clean and wiped it off. Took the Z3 out for a spin to check the balance of the new tires. Stopped to chat with my neighbor. Had my foot on the brake... and the pedal started to sink to the floor. UGH.

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

For sure! My the brakes in my e46 failed catastrophically while I was driving in to DFW airport. When to slow for the toll booth and… nothing! Luckily I was already coasting slightly and there wasn’t anyone in front of me, so I was able to down shift and use the e brake to stop. Turns out the ABS pump failed and when it did the hydraulic pressure went from fine to almost nothing almost instantly. Not fun!

If it's under warranty, I hope I still have the old hose to replace it with until a new hose arrives. I haven't thrown the trash out from the garage, so it should be in the 33 gal. trash can. But brake fluid... ugh. Edit... went out at lunch and bought some nitrile gloves. Last edited by Efthreeoh; 03-15-2024 at 02:30 PM.. |

I got my 2011 335i out of storage today and took it for a nice Spring drive. I reached 82,000 miles, not bad for a 14 year old car.
Over the winter, I made some changes to the boring gray interior. I decided to introduce some black accents to give the interior some contrast. Interior Mods: Black door pulls. Black Oem BMW cup holders and changed the trim piece from gray to new Oem BMW black. Oem new shifter trim black Oem black leather console armrest Oem new black floor matts Black speaker grills instead of factory gray Deleted phone insert in console and added BMW tray Last mod not finished Change the driver door “pull” and window switch trim to black I really like the gray interior, just wish BMW would have two-toned it with gray/black from the factory. It would have been so much easier for BMW to have just had black carpet, black dash, black door upper/lower panels for every E90/E92. All leather colors would have looked great two-toned from the factory and BMW wouldn’t have had to have tan & gray carpets. Just my 2 cents. Enjoy the pictures and let me know your thoughts. Thanks

Cluster is back assembled now.
I made the e60 dial work, but it involved custom shaping and profiling the inside of the dial to fit e90 retaining clip, indexing it and shaving teeth to build my own stops on both the dial & cluster, etc etc. not even remotely close to PNP like the rest of it is. Pretty cool effect though.

greetings cehrl7,
would LOVE to hear about your 22 X3MC....isn't it 503 HP?? cross-drilled ventilated rotors, M suspension, etc, etc. we have a 21 X3 w/the 2L 248 HP and 8 speed AT and it's a bit zippy - can't even imagine the X3MC's performance. |

It was dirt. Dirt got in the fitting. It looked like rust particles. Must have been picked up on the pipe-side (double flair) and I did not notice upon assembly. The flair didn't seat properly. In my defense the spare tire cage was in the way making it a tight space to work in. The pipe has some spring to it, so it must have tapped on the body tab where it connects to the brake hose. I tried to clean everything the first go round. Must have missed a spot where rust was. I removed the spare tire support cage this time to get it totally out of the way. Didn't take any pic because, you know, brake fluid... BMW brakes are back!
