Questions...
I am a newbie here and enjoying the first couple weeks of my 335i... that being said I take interest in the above statement. What evidence is there that the JB4 has been causing any issues? Are there records of blown motors from JB4 installs? I am really interested in purchasing one, but am also scared of long-term reliability.
From what i've read so far everyone likes to do ECU's first; obviously because of bang for the buck. If we were to go the "safer" route is it safe to assume that I am better off upgrading intercooler, intake, DP's and exhaust before doing a tune? Wouldn't this create a "safer" environment for a tune? Once again forgive me if I am totally off, but I am a newbie and just want to understand this completely before making a decision. |

The above comment was sarcasm. On a whole, the n54 ecu is very very good at protecting the engine from harm, regardless of the methods of tuning. As there hasn’t been a wide scale (or even small scale) failure of our engines, there is a general lack of evidence that “poor” tuning methods on our cars will cause harm.
This is all assuming that all issues are reported and sufficient miles on each popular tune have been logged and proved to be safe. As there are probably 10k+ jb3/4s on the road, I think anyone would be hard pressed to say, hey, if you go jb4, your engine will be fired in 10k miles. Going tune first is fine as long as you run stage 1 maps. These engines are very detuned from the factory and have a lot of room for increase on the stock hardware. |

does the PROcede have a way of modifying timing during increasing load and different enviromental factors?

need help with atr and boost control !!
i would like to ajust my boost curve ( keep boost to redline ) will it help adding 2% at the WGDC adder (air flow) --- the last column ( 278) replace 6.00 by 8.00 ? or-and WGDC ceilling ( adder ) last column ( 333 ) replace 7.00 by 9.00 thank s

Ok, just so i have this straight. The cobb and PROceed adjust timing based on load. But the JB4 relies on the knock sensor to adjust timing?

Hi all,
My car runs perfectly, no issues anywhere it was reading 298bhp on the first dyno run with no fault codes or errors. Then the new aggressive map was put on it. I should of got around 360bhp at least out of the map. But when dynoing with the new map it started of well. A good 20-30bhp than standard and torque was exceptional higher. However when hitting the 3500 rev the pressure dropped, this was shown on his diagnostic kit that was monitoring the engine. When it hit 200Psi the pressure dropped and the bhp levelled off. However there were no codes and no faults shown. How can I find out what the issue is? was it a mapping fault or was there a technical issue with a or some parts in my engine? |

Hello,
I am a Master student and I need some values of BMW N54 for my final year project. I tried downloading and accessing accesstuner but I failed. I found someone posted the values of ignition table, which helped me a lot. The same way I am also in need of the fuel table (fuel injection) corresponding to rpm and engine load. A screenshot of the table can do it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Aby |

Hey all. Newbie here. Wondering if some could point me in the right direction. I have read and read for a few weeks now and it can be tough as many of the threads I am reading with reviews are several years old....and I understand things change with time/development of other software.
So basically this. New owner of a N54 (07 335i manual). Bought car from the orignal owner in Miami. He had the car tuned by Active Autowerks and had them mod the car a few thousand miles into it's life. Older man who babied the car. Car runs GREAT and is in great shape. Currently running tune for preimum fuel by Active Autowerke Goals would be to have something to play with as a 2nd vehicle (not a commuter, but also NOT a track car). Something to run around in and have some fun. Would be fine mixing fuels, and also adding additional mods if there is payback. Car will be adult driven and not pounding the piss out of it at every light, but also looking for fun. Car has: (mods by Active Autowerke) Catch can FMIC downpipes charge pipe w/ bov Full exhaust system KN filter Tune by Active for preimum fuel KW V2 coilovers (not that it has anything to do with power) 20" wheels staggered w/ extreme contact tires. Questions: -Assuming Active Autowerke did a good tune, is there anything to be gained by adding a JP4 unless I started mixing fuels? -If I did add a JP4 Will it work with tune from Active or do I have to go back to stock tune? -I am fine with mixing fuel, reading up seems a JP4 with MHD back load tune seems to give benifits of JP4 safety can ease of use. -Being new to this whole thing, some people love Cobb, some JP4 some MHD am I off by looking into JP4 w/ MHD? -Worth is to consider methanol injection? VERY mixed thoughts here. Not necessarily shooting for direct port, but standard charge pipe install just for overall support. I really really appreciate any experience help. I tried to aviod the dumb newb questions and read and read to the end of the internet. When I felt I could form some semi-intelligent questions, I figured I would reach out and see if someone would mind lending me some of their thoughts. Thanks! |

My advice for you is to go MHD, learn to do 3rd gear pulls and log and analyze your car data, and then learn to play with TurnerPro to start tuning your car by yourself. I did. It’s fun! |
