Sorry, just saw this.

Mine were stock end links. Lowered on a 28mm bar.

I installed coilovers at 12,000 miles and I'm not at 38,000 miles. They were shot well before now

Stock suspension height

Hey i have 2007 bmw 335i that i just previously bought, the previous owner has the vehicle dropped and im not much of a fan of having the car dropped does anyone know whats the stock height on the vehicle or how much do i raise the car back to normal?

Okay, I'll be generic and ask:

My stock suspension is going out - a shock is actually leaking. Instead of forcing the replacement under CPO, I'm considering doing a full suspension workup. Well, by which I mean springs/shocks.

I come from the EM and FD world, so I've dealt with front and rear drive cars, both econoboxes and real sports cars (in a way the E92 won't ever be *cough*pig*cough*). My understanding has always been that the only advantage of coilovers over regular springs was adjustability - you can raise and lower your car by adjusting the coilovers. After all, aren't coilovers just springs in an adjustable compression perch? Adjustable shocks are something that is separate from your spring decision.

What do I want?

I want a daily drivable car (on mediocre roads, Austin's no winner on the public works side).
I want reduced float at high speeds (135+).
I want slightly tighter feel in the steering.
I want a car I can autocross (half a dozen times a year, tops).
I want a car I can do an occasional track day in (a few times a year).
Most importantly, I want minimal ride quality sacrifice.

Money isn't that important a factor, but obviously matters - I've no desire to pay $1,000 more for a 5% increase in handling.

I'm currently on stock sport wheels with runflats (yeah, I know, but there's a story and it's kinda hilarious, but in short when I get ready to buy new tires I inevitably receive a pair of new runflats for $75). I intend to move to a 19" wheel with similarly profiled tire, and I recognize that the smaller profile will cost me ride quality, but I like the look enough to make the sacrifice.

To put it in perspective, my goal is 500whp - I have an FMIC and a chargepipe/BOV in the trunk (in addition to the Cobb, ardesign catted downpipe, and BMS DCI already installed), and once they're installed I'll be doing a protune with Wedge. That's the extent of my power goals for a long while. I have another FD to buy, after all.

So what do you think, fellas?

I would go with something proven and simple without a huge drop... Like eibach pro kits and koni yellows.

I have a non sport 2007 328i I have eibach pro kit springs not yet installed that I want to pair with zsp shocks/struts......anyone know about hat setup?

You need shocks made for lowering springs. Get Bilstein B8 or Koni Yellow.

Which would perform better under "heavy load" such as 3+ people and a trunk full of luggage:

Koni FSD
Bilstein B8

My issue is that I have rear 15mm spacers, and even AFTER rolling fenders, I get some tire rub in the back on bouncy highway bumps. So I know my rear shocks/struts are compromised.

I also want "cornering performance" and it's a daily driver, no track usage. I also don't want a harsh, bumpy ride.

Torn between the promise of the "comfort" of the FSD, but the horror stories of them losing their effectiveness after 15K-20K miles, and the worry that the B8 will be "too stiff" for DD comfort.

HALP !!!

There's no question, Bilstein B6 or B8 all the way. 1000% for sure. That's what they're known for.

While I'd do it all at once, you can always just start by swapping in the rear shocks quickly, see if you like how they feel. That's like a $200 outlay, and if you think they give too much road feel, you can always sell them on here for near what you paid.

You do need to make considerations though. The only way you're going to reduce the rubbing in the rear over bumps is an increase in compression dampening over stock. That's going to result in a (slightly) firmer ride. There's simply no way around it.

Thanks much. So would this look like my shopping list to completely refresh the rear struts:

Two B8 Rear Sport Shock, Mfg Part #24-120425
One Monroe 907984 Strut-Mate Mounting Kit (I assume the kit has two?)
BMW Subframe Bushing Insert Kit Rear - Whiteline KDT918

Does that look correct? Anything else? Thanks much.

You'd need two rear kits. That being said, if you're not looking to make things any firmer back there, maybe stick with the stock foam mounts?

I've run the whiteline inserts and they made a noticeable improvement in rear stability.

That being said, if it's not a money thing, the install time is close enough between inserts and full replacements that you should just go with the KDT917 two-piece polys.

Both require lowering the subframe about the same amount, the bushings just require a few extra minutes to press the old ones out with a $10 hand-held propane torch, a large socket and some creative jack work.

When you say I need "two rear kits" do you mean the Monroe, or the WhiteLine, or both?

I think I do want to replace the foam mounts, because although I don't want SEVERE additional firmness, there is also "highway speed bounce" in the rear I need to eliminate. the Monroe mounts should help alleviate that, right?
