I just bought my n54 and I love it! just make sure its clean and not making any noises or vibrations and you keep up on preventative maintenance and you'll be fine!

My thought being that it might be ideal to search for a car over 100K miles, knowing that it's likely to have had the common failure points worked on (OFHG, valve cover gasket, starter, oil pan gasket, etc.) Though of course I wouldn't just assume. But then, perhaps that's not the case for x-Drive cars, as around 100K they might need front drivetrain work in the near future? And changing a front axle on these cars doesn't sound like DIY material to me. By that I mean I'm sure I could do it, but it sounds like a huge PITA. |

My current wagon had an driveshaft explode around 130k miles. Other than that, everything is original from 2007, including all four axles, transfer case, diffs, rear driveshaft, and transmission, transfer case and diff oil.
165K miles. The other x-drive I had for a short time last year also had 166K miles, and all parts were original in the drivetrain. I wouldn't make any assumptions about what was or wasn't completed, nor about what might be needed. The idea of going 165k miles with the 4 original axles on a BMW is totally reasonable, where on the toyota and nissan cars I've had over the years I would expect maybe 40k before they'd be needing replacement. So... that it is hard to do isn't necessarily a big deal if you only have to do one once every 200 or 300k miles |

replying to an unrelated post is not the way.
also, there are replies to *every one of your posts*. So... maybe read the responses, or maybe find somewhere else to be a jerk. Last edited by vilord; 10-10-2019 at 12:29 PM.. |

I just bought one for 7k in Portland. 130k~ and unmodded, but the majors gone through and a clean PPI.
I bought the Platinum Bronze Metallic, hating the color myself, but running with the assumption that most likely it was owned by old people. Ive only had it a day so I don't know how right that is lol. Bought an Accessport and DCI kit today, should be here this week! On the list: Wheels Muffler Delete Carbon lip and trunk spoiler Body work Performance wheel I'm in the PNW if anyone has any of that lying around I dont mind used gear. And if anyone knows how much a good (cheap) walnut blast runs up here and if they know anyone who does it on the hookup, let me know! Excited, first German car since air cooled Porsches/VWs |

Lots more wear parts in the driveline, including the second differential, axles and the extra clutch assembly. The oil pan gasket is far more difficult to fix than it was on my RWD. Oil change will be needed on the x-drive clutch @ 100k -- annoying disassembly to reach the fill. Of course, moving parts on the driveshaft and axles. The rest is identical (or close to) the RWD version.

AMAZING
I plan on purchasing a 335 but am torn between both of these models the 2012 BMW 335is vs 2012 BMW 335xi (Fully loaded).
The 335is has 84000km on it, black on black The 335xi (Fully loaded) has 92500km on it, white on red! (Which I orgasm for) Would appreciate an experienced answer, or willing to share your thoughts on why you would choose one over the other! |

One is an E92 with the N54 twin-turbo engine. Assuming the 335xi is a sedan, it will be an F-Series chassis with the N55 single turbo engine. 335is: Rear wheel drive. Legendary E9x hydraulic power steering. Performance tuned. At 84k km it will probably need mechanical attention in the near future, and it won't be cheap. Common N54 issues are the turbo and High pressure fuel pump replacement. Water pump and thermostat, Vanos solenoids, oil filter housing gasket, and valve cleaning possible. You may have the other typical E9x problems, which are not a big deal (as long as they are not powertrain related). 335xi: All wheel drive. Electric Power steering, different feel. N55 has shown to have it's own set of issues, which may be less common than on the N54. From what I understand the N54 essentially needs turbo and HPFP replaced. The major issue on the N55 is charge pipe replacement. Vanos solenoids, oil filter housing gasket, and valve cleaning are also possible. There is a small risk of rod bearing failure, although the cause isn't entirely known. You may have some xdrive issues, but hard to say for sure. This car will probably feel less like a sports car, but will come with 4 doors (which is my preference). I would suggest driving both and seeing which one you like more. I agree the colour on the F30 is better, but depending on what you're looking for the is may be the right choice. Be prepared for maintenance though.

Performance is very great. The only problem about this model is the heating system. The thermostat gets malfunctioned when in high temperature areas |
