E92 335i auto 2006 - 34k miles
Best - 38mpg (on the motorway) Average - 25.4mpg I'm astounded by how good the 335i is on the motorway. Once you settle down at 70mph, it really is very frugal for a car with 320bhp and a 3litre straight 6 twin turbo under the bonnet! |

2009 E90 320D (177)
Looking back at my previous posts in this thread, the overall average (never reset since new) was reading: At 9500miles 57.6mpg At 19200 miles 55.4 mpg, having just spent 5000 miles on winter tyres during a cold winter. Now the car has covered 35500 miles and the overall average is back up to 57.6 mpg. So it looks like the last 16k miles or so have probably had an average around the 60 mpg mark. The winter tyres have been back on for 3 weeks, and it is clear that consumption is a fair bit worse again, perhaps 5-10% off. Obviously the higher rolling resistance of the winter tyres makes a reasonably significant difference to consumption, as it can't be put down to cold weather so far. |

Definitely tuning into the car now that I have done 10K or so. I have the 318d Msport tourer with the 18s, and if I sit at 70mph I can hit mid 50s no problems, 80 ish it drops to low 40s. Ran down to Leeds from Sunderland over the festive period and was in no hurry, set the CC at 58mph and 50 through the HUGE roadworks section, over 209 miles I got a nice 61.4mpg, with a full boot and two passengers. Best bit is the brother in law left 15 mins after me and arrived an hour later, said he was "not hanging about" but ended up stuck in a jam caused by a crash, his Mazda 6 2ltr petrol was averaging a while 29.4 on the same journey. I know which car I am happier with.
Would love a 330d but NEED it to stay in the mid 40s, and can't justify the mid 30s Fuel prices are a killer |

Combined driving is seeing me at between 37-38 in this cold snap. On a run it will go over 40, but that's with a full load. I reckon 45+ should be possible with a run and an empty car.
Did anyone see much in the way of gains after a remap? MY 08 E91 330d Auto M-Sport Touring

My avg for the first tank was 43/44MPG in my 330d and now on the current tank at about 38.6 MPG, But been exploring the power on this tank and more town driving so very pleased so far..
My 3.0 Z4 is at 26MPG avg and the best I have seen was 34/35MPG on long trip to London driving like a saint So over the moon with the fact the 330D is just as fast once rolling and not driving it slowly is doing at least 10 - 12MPG more Rob |

I've just been to Barmouth and back with the family today (wife and two children), over very hilly single carriageway roads.
130 miles and 44.8mpg (by the OBC)! Not bad for a 335d. It was mainly quite sedentary driving though we overtook quite a number of Sunday drivers who were admiring the views. My usual average is 34.8mpg (2008 335d MS with efficient dynamics) |

My first tank averaged 45.5 on the trip, calculated using the amount filled was 45.3 so fairly accurate. Bit of motorway, town and back road driving, but use the cruise control most of the time as this gets the best from the fuel so far.

So far I've averaged 35.91 mpg according to a handy app on my phone that works it all out accurately for me! Car is a '57 plate 335d MS.
I do drive fairly normally...apart from the very ocassional blat to get past people who drive well under the speed limit. Loving that kickdown feeling!

I did 100 miles on the motorway at 65 the other day and averaged 40.3mpg. In a 335i! not too bad really. Average is still around 25 though.

I got my E92 320d last week. Filled up with v power for a trip to London and back (from stoke) OBC read 64.2 mpg. On 55.4 mpg for the latest fill up (mix of motorway and rural).

Must be a new 335i record!! One tank over 6 journeys (mainly motorways)..
I'll hit 500miles one day!

I managed to drag 505 miles out of my 335D with 40+ miles left on the readout on my last fillup! When I had brimmed it again it predicted 594 miles! It'll NEVER happen...

600 miles should be easy out of a 335d. Give it a try! I think if I had 1trip nonstop I could tease 550 miles out of a 335i. Which is pretty impressive, but a very boring trip that would be!!
