I flashed successfully using expert mode in winkfp and it succeeds but the old firmware remains, it seems winkfp is not writing to the frm, any suggestions?

I flashed ZB 9390490, my issue with fog lights still persists, uif is disabled. If I enable it, should the flash succeed?

I pulled the below info from winkfp ecu identification
Bmw part number 9342996
Physical hw number: 9206233

The part nb written on the frm3 is 61359224604

Does the flash change the bmw part nb?
And does the new pulled part numbers indicate that i should flash a different zb number to regain the functionality of the Bixenon AHL?

And yes I'm pulling the VO from CAS

My question is when the guy flashed the frm with xprog using an x5 e70 file, does this change the part number of the frm3 making the part nb written on the sticker obsolete?

I usually repair EEE from D-Flash so it works right away, no coding needed,
Before, I would just write dump from same type FRM(numbers does not matter) and code it and was good.

It was only one time, when I was beginning this stuff, when I tried to use eee from other type of FRM, and then tried winkfp and coding but could not finally make it work.

If you'll post of label on your FRM, I'll drop u dump to use.

How to update in winkfp expert mode without it asking for a previous file? Is there *0da file for Frm3 or only *0pa?

Thanks

I managed to flash successfully zb 9390490 in comfort mode by adding the required part nb (9342996) to the hwnr.da2 file to bypass the error but I selected to write UIF.

Now zb nb shows 000000 and bmw part number still shows 9342996.
Winkfp flashed successfully, can I assume I'm running zb 9390490?
And by the way, my issues with fogs and cornering lights did not resolve.

Should I flash the module externally with Xprog using the suggested file?

Thanks

Just write the correct eeprom dump for your hardware with xprog. All be ok.

If you only need to change VIN then why not use tool32? No need to flash anything.

Hooray! Success!
Thank you very much for your advice. Much appreciated!
You were correct, the EEPROM was corrupted (as expected). Xprog even gave me a message towards that (duh). Just clearing it and writing a good dump to it worked fine.

You were also correct that XTAL and XCLKS is not needed. In fact, it is counter productive as after doing that and lifting the XTAL pin, somehow the reset of the security doesn't work anymore. Xprog reports "can't connect to BDM" when selecting that. However, it does communicate fine with chip, just on it's own clock rather than the boards crystal.

It also turned out that the Secure mode of Xprog is not needed. I later selected the normal MC9S12XE mode and it wrote to EEprom and Program Flash just fine. However, my Xprog did give me a lot of problems reading either one without mismatches in the verify stage. Don't know why. But restarting Laptop every now and then helped.

By the way, my FRM is using a MC9S12XEQ384 (Mask 3M25J).
I also repaired a friends FRM which used the same chip. You sure the original post is not a typo?

Thanks again, mate. Cheers!
