I think his action in the sprint race in austria when he pushed Max off the track was the last straw.

Too much a Senna-Prost / Vettel-Webber / Hamilton-Rosberg moment.

Max and also Marko don't tolerate that. There's too much at stake.
RB knows they have a winner with Max for years to come. There's a reason both Max and RB decided to prematurely extend the contract for 7 years, even before they knew Newey's car would be this good with the new rules/format.
