Thanks alot mate just wondering if this was an identical hose or if it was a new one where all the kinks have been worked out. Also would say moterist discount centre or a-z auto parts be able to get hold of the part.

It looked identical, I know BMW have modified the part, but it could be just a few microns smaller and give a better fit. The seals maybe a slightly different shape, who knows... One thing I do know is that I would only replace this part with the genuine BMW part. It's had a know problem, BMW claim to have sorted it now. Some after market parts would be fine eg brake pad sensors, but a high pressure pipe to a very expensive turbo system - genuine all the way for me! To be honest I doubt there is an aftermarket part anyway. They have you over a barrel I'm afraid. There is also another pipe somewhere in the system that looks identical, except it's twice as long and guess what.... It's the same price!! I've not heard of any problems with this one though, it may be a lower pressure pipe.

I took the front offside arch liner off earlier.
I wanted to find out how to replace the fog light housing as the lens has broken and the whole unit needs to be changed (£105.00!) Anyway I've worked out how to do the fog light and then noticed this: I'm assuming this is the problem that this thread is all about? Thankfully I still have my warranty.

It is yes, but I wasn't looking for it, I discovered it whilst looking to do something else.

Just to add another possible different boost hose issue... I've got an early LCI 330d on a 58reg with the newer engine and similar hose setup as the 335d. Guess what, I've got some misting of oil on the flexible hose on the o/s of the intercooler (black on the 330d) and also appears to be a little further up also. Between 2-3k at idle there would appear to be quite an induction type noise that I'm not sure is normal?
I've got it booked in for a warranty inspection in a weeks time, so will try get some photos before it goes in! |

Hey guys, a hello and my experience with this problem,
After reading this fantastic thread, i looked to find the same issue in my car, i called a local bmw dealer who states they are not aware of any issues with this at all and have never fixed this issue in their workshop!! After asking the age and mileage of the car (2006 model with 114k miles with FBMWSH) the senior tech said it would not be done under good will simply because of the mileage and the age of the vehicle and the fact that i purchased the vehicle privately and not as an AUC, might give this a DIY and just replace the seal for now to see how it goes. Am i being sold a fib or do bmw have a valid point? regards |

Loss of power on my e91 335d
Hi guys got a familiar problem with my bm. Loss of power between 2000/2500rpm. Been looking at the forum, and seems a common issue. Also got a oily red air pipe and oil in the drip tray. Iv changed the red pipe, but still losing power and it's not only embarrassing but dangerous as well. Is there another pipe that may need changing? The acuator? Are these common on the small turbo? Can any body please help? Does any one no what code 4530 is and the part number for the actuator?
Regards John a very feed up owner! |

That's just as bad as E46 owners trying to kick it up with BMW due to swirl flap issues on 7 year old cars.

2nd time this has happened.
I have just had my hose fixed for the second time round.
First time was a new hose at 2yrs old. They only replaced the seals this time (car is now 4.5yrs old) It would seem that these things have a lifespan of about 2 years. Just wondering if anyone has had to pay for this repair as I had to pay £100 for the excess on my extended warranty but did not get the actual bill as such.

UPDATE:
just got the seals fitted at my local garage, the pipe was covered in gunk, one internal seal, and one external seal changed and car seems to be a bit more powerful from lower down in rev range and gears seem to be changing promptly and smoother than before (that said may be psychological ) jobs done for now and will see over next few months if needs new pipe, current pipe was not damaged thanks for all the help |

BMW 335d oil leak
Hi all, been reading this thread with a lot of interest. I have this issue with oil leak from the red flexi hose and my mpg has come down 24mpg, car went for a service at BMW 20th of this month and they told me on job card that there was slight oil leak. I looked into it and it's the common issue by the look of it. I wanted to just change the seals rather than the hole pipe and it's not cheap. £166 plus VAT for red flexor hose pipe. Can anyone tell me the part numbers for the seal s please. It would be very grateful. Thank you.
