If I had my car stateside already and used it as a guinea pig, I'd totally help you out with it...but I don't want to mess with someone's new car w/o having done it at least once on my own. I"m sure it's not as hard as you think. but if you have a trusted mechanic that will take liability for a screw up...why not?

I almost finished it last night but ran out of the quick detailer spray which is the clar bar lube. Going to finish it tonight I think. It's unbelievable how much crud is still embedded in the clearcoat even after a very careful washing...

Not at all.

And I will tell you, the DIY post on this (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...610#post576610) talks about how fragile the fender is right there. They aren't kidding. The front fenders are plastic and it's really flimsy right there at the reflector. It was actually somewhat scary doing that mod because if you're not careful you will break the fender plastic or push too hard when you're prying and make marks through the plastic to the paint side. The key is to get the thing really hot with a hair dryer, like 5 minutes at least on HIGH. Then just be gentle and hold the part of the fender while you push pry the reflector out. The fender plastic does flex a lot right there when you're prying and it's a little unsettling. But mine came out fine and it looks awesome! The paint match on my Black Sapphire Metallic is dead-on. I will take some more pics in the morning of the fully detailed car and post them.

Now that i have done mine, I could do another set in about 10 minutes. I definitely would want to pull the wheel off though. It made the whole process a lot easier.

I'm jealous...
my painted reflectors and oem lip will be here well before the car. I'm not sure if it will make it more painful.

The lip shipped a few days ago...so I guess I can look forward to it.

What a fun, fun car to drive though. Picked her up with only 8 miles on it. Still have under a 100. Stupid work stuff... Alas, today is Friday so I only need to make it thorugh 8 more hours then I have an entire fun filled driving weekend ahead of me.

Congrats to everyone for making it through the wait! Frag, SpeedGod, Snohman....Cars look awesome. Waiting for some pics of Frag's after the detail though...

Snohman...hope you had a great B-day! Couldn'ta been too bad I reckon!

Thank you for the birthday wishes!! Having a nice romantic dinner outside along the Champs Elysees wasn't a bad way to spend my bday!

I hope you're having fun driving right now!! The car is seriously a blast to drive... but you got the 'vert and ya can't beat that for ultimate fun!

Just don't get stuck in traffic like this around the Arc de Triomphe

That's schweet. My lip arrived the dealership today and it went to the bodyshop this afternoon. I ought to have it sometime next week, so it will probably go on before next weekend

so i love how they don't give alarms on the 3s. mind you, some of our cars cost more than your entry 5. ridiculous. also my dealership just tried to madly scam me! the finance woman is "looking up" the price and says, hmm, i think its 600.00...not really sure if these prices are still good. but i JUST got some info on a new product...she then proceeds to tell me about all these (admittedly awesome) features (which are really only worth it if you have a teenage kid whose activity you want to monitor). she then tries to close with, so this product is 995. not much more than our alarm, you might as well go for this. i say, lemme think about it. i go home to discover my dealer is selling their alarm, on sale, for 213. amazing. shadiness.

so, to my question, if i order the alarm, where do i go to install it?? the dealer or my mechanic?

how thoughtful! thanks! i might just let these deflectors collect some dust; im afraid of messing with the bumper and it doesn't look as bad as i thought? i dunno. if yours goes okay, maybe i'll take the car on the nice windy 110N and put your skills to work! keep me posted!

My thoughts exactly...no alarm...my non convertible 335i coupe is msrp'ing for $50,450. You'd think it would have an alarm included.
Yeah Finance people get kind of shady. I thought about getting an alarm also as I like audible confirmation of locking/unlocking of the car, but since mine's a lease, I'm not so sure if I want to "invest" in one.

There's a good DIY on an alarm install on an e90 at http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1487 . You might want to take the instructions to your mechanic and see how much he/she would charge for the install. If you want full functionality of the alarm, you will probably have to pay a visit to your dealer anyway to get the alarm activated and software updated.

I have to warn you, my car was dropped off on 05/29 and it could be a good 6-8 weeks before my car gets here. But if you don't mind waiting I'd be more than happy to help you out. You know you'll love driving your car up the windy little 110N

The finance people are the ones who make a LOT of money for the dealership. Basically if you go in there knowing exactly what you want, there won't be a problem. But just like a big german shepard or doberman, if they smell fear in you, you're TOAST!!!!

You have to know the score first. I opted out of all the extended warranty bullshit and other crap they try to sell you. And they practically refused to accept my Capital One Blank Check. I was prepared to walk out of the dealership, and he sensed that. After a while of talking he was miraculously able to reduce the quoted finance rate from 6.5% down to 6.09%, only a little more than the 6.05% from Capital One.

In I was driving the car out of the dealership in about 90 minutes. Funny, this 2-door coupe was about $10K more than the last vehicle I bought, a 2004 Acura MDX SUV....

A look back

When you have a second, click the first post in this thread and take a look back over the last month and see what we went through. It's pretty cool to see how we were thinking while our cars were on the water.

Every time I peek into the garage I can't believe how awesome it looks. Like a weird surreal dream!!

They're probably too busy driving their cars out there...I'm "stuck" in vegas for work until Tuesday.

I look back and think to myself...I'm sitting here in the Carmen thread and my car's still probably sitting in Europe. But it's been fun joining the Carmen people for the ride...I guess my ED date was close to Carmen delivery dates so I just hopped on board. Hope you guys/gals don't mind.

Man I can't wait to see it on your car! I just tracked mine and it was in California at a local hub as of yesterday, so I guess I'll see it when I get back into town on Wednesday.

Guys,

Will post pics as soon as I pic her up. I had to extend one of my trips, not going to be able to collect her until June 16th by the seem of things. Very frustrating knowing that she is sat in Scottsdale waiting for me.

LOL!!!!

I am sure it sucks being "stuck" in Vegas. I have been "stuck" there several times myself (being so close to PHX...)

It's been great having you here...the more the merrier!!

So today at 3pm I started the wheels. One by one, I removed each wheel and washed it, inside & out. I then clay-bar'd the front surface, applied Poorboys Wheel Sealant to the outside and inside of the wheel. Buffed that off, then applied a second coat. Re-installed the wheels, added the wheel locks that I bought on Friday at the dealership (they don't come with your car), and torqued all the nuts to 88.5ft/lbs. It took till nearly 7pm to finish this. The Poorboys should make the brake dust just rinse off...

I took a break to eat and dick around on the computer, then decided to re-wash the car. About an hour ago, I decided to see what the Klasse AIO could do for the front end, and OMG that stuff is AWESOME!!!

I'm leaving it home tomorrow, then will finish the Klasse, and follow with Z5 and be done... Then I need to get out in the daylight and take some good pictures. Here are a couple of quick pix. Note the front painted reflectors. Actually, you can't see them because they match perfectly LOL!!! The last picture is after I applied and buffed off the Klasse AIO on the front end. The texture in the reflection is the ceiling LOL!!!! Incredible.

Pics, Finally....

For your viewing pleasure! Love this car!

I saw another Sparkling Graphite E93 yesterday while out shopping! First one I've seen other than my own.
