Here she is at the 2nd port, officially in New Jersey, and not NYC, at Port Newark in the lovely container-filled Newark Bay. I'm thinking she is unloading (loading?) some other type of vehicle other than bimmers, since our VPC is in NYC.
Google Maps link to a close-up of the port. Do I see pick-up trucks? Hrmm.. Who makes pickup trucks in Europe that sells in NA?? BMW no, MB no, Volvo no... Maybe they're loading up NA vehicles to take over to Europe. Anywho:

Global Logistics Consultant here.
From being in the industry, I know WW does military movements also, so this could have something to do with them. I am marked as a NY jump off so hopefully I am on land now. I have another BMW (wife's X3) that just rolled off the line last week so she should be getting on a new vessel soon.

I really need to buckle down and watch that entire show... but I know for a fact I'll never have the time to do that. Sad realization

I posted this on another thread, but I thought I would share it again with you guys in case you missed it. Since our cars are coming into the VPC, I thought some of you might find it interesting.

I finally called my CA today just to see what he says. I had not been calling him yet since I could track it myself to this point.
Odd thing is that he said even though it got off in NY/NJ, it still goes down to SC since they do not have a logistics lane from NY/NJ to Texas. From there, it is trucked to TX. Seems very odd, but his system is giving him a due date in SC of about 7/3 and he says it should be to us about 7/7-7/8 (should not need VPC work in SC). I have heard that only ED cars bound for Texas get off in NY/NJ compared to non-ED Texas cars that get off later down the coast. Something unique must happen in NY/NJ for ED cars that does not happen in SC. Not sure what it is, but sounds like we may all share another ride down the road!

Just venting here.....
When I ordered my 335 I gave my wife my '04 MB C230 Sedan that was in absolute perfect condition. The thing looks brand new. Actually that's the reason I ordered the BMW because she wanted my car so bad. After she's had it for a month, she's gotten 3 door dings in it. Just chaps my butt!! I love her to death, but come on! Then she's gonna think I'm a jerk because I'm not going to let her take my new 335 anywhere. Thank you for listening... |

My awareness when I drive my cars seems incredibly high compared to the drivers out there who are just "travelling" from point A to B in their crapola pontiac sunfire - not ripping on cheap cars, just an example, it's the 'passion' that doesn't exist. That alone has helped me avoid a few accidents where others would have just slammed on the brakes, or even worse, not even see it coming; because I'm constantly "worried" that something horrible is going to happen. It's not a conscious worry, it's more of a behind the scenes alertness that enables when I step into my car. I'd imagine when I start driving the 3er I'll be even more attentive than with my last car. I hope you guys know what I mean... It's hard to explain.

My wife drives a Lexus RX300. She has so many scratches, dings and recently a bumper "bump". She got mad at me recently saying I don't ever fix her car or take care of it like I take care of mine, but I countered saying why fix your bumper when I know you'll just smack something else this summer. Two dings minimum and then I'll get it fixed.
BTW, GH32335i, you probably are a jerk... ... just kidding.

I must have been lucky on this one or I beat it into her head about watching out for the other idiots around her. My wife has a couple of dings in her 04 X3 that is getting replaced in a few weeks. Both of those came at my least favorite store, Toys r Us, where they have extremely small spaces and plenty of drivers that don't give a crap about their cars. So I can not really fault her for that. She is also a fairly organized and cleanly person so even with the 2 year old in her car, it looks pretty new inside other than just normal in and out seat where. I have also beat it into her to get it hand washed every few weeks which helps.
As for the 335i, it will be perfect mainly because I drive so little and it is always in our garage. I only had 13k on my last one after 3 years. Should have a few more on this one, but not much. She also would rather drive hers as she is not a big fan of the sports package, so she will rarely be behind the wheel of the 335i. She did not even touch the driver side once in our 1100 miles in Europe. And for those that have not done the ED (European Delivery), I highly recommend it. My car is not even to my state yet, but I have already driven it to 150mph and averaged just over 100mph on the highways in Europe! We would have done it with her new car too, but the purchases were only about 2 months apart. We will definitely do ED again on the next BMW purchase.

First off STINGER, I think you're a jerk for first letting your poor wife drive a Japanese car, and then two for refusing to fix it for her. And after she carried your twins!!! Just kidding back.
I didn't mean to be dissin' my wife, she's great, and she's actually pretty particular about stuff. I think driving a minivan for the last 7 years has gotten her out of the habit of caring. Unfortunately, she CAN drive a manual transmission, and probably as well if not better than I can. She had a 240Z from the time she was 16 until she got out of college, and did ALL the work on it herself. She did all the tune-ups, and some pretty major fixes on it. I had a Porsche 968 (Manual tranny) and my Dad and I were in my front yard talking, when she walks out and said she was going to the store and taking my car. I looked at my Dad and said, wait a second and then just listen.....she went slowly down our street, like she's little miss innocent, then turned, then you could hear her light it up. Engine screaming, wheels spinning, chirped'em going into 2nd - I'm sure she was sideways!.... My Dad just laughed as I stood there shaking my head. When I got the 968 she was 8 months pregnant, and she wanted to drive it, so I let her and she did a 85mph four wheel drift through this turn, grinning ear to ear and 8 months pregnant. With me yelling at her to slow down. I really need to keep her out of my 335!! gerbs, thanks for the compliment on the Benz. I know exactly what you're saying about driving the way you do. We're car guys and we care when we drive. Most people don't and don't care about their cars, either. A buddy of mine just got a 2004 S Class Mercedes, the thing is beautiful, he bought it from his uncle and it was dirty when he got it. It took him a month to even wash the thing. I don't think it's been washed since. |

Yes, but has your wife hit the garage while pulling in with every single car you've every owned? Good thing she's worth her weight in gold!
We made the mistake of getting our Range Rover in black as her main car to cart the kids in.... and "Ivory" interior.... while it's beautiful, we wont be making that mistake again. I'm sure you all know this, but when you accuse your wife of getting curb rash on your 20 inch wheels on your $70k+ SUV, you better have video evidence, because she'll deny it until the day she dies. Must have been that ghost driver then, or perhaps a curb that jumped in front of her at the store... |
