Well our good friend Sara is staying over at the Myrtles Plantation as we speak...I'm hoping she will update on any experiences she was faced with lol. Quote:
Isn't it funny how some people associate hauntings involving children more scarier? Quote:

Since I was a kid, I've had several situations I've been left hard-pressed to explain. Of those, there are few that have been memorable.
I used to be a really, really disobedient, pain in the @ss kid. Just plain horrible....explosive temper, constant fighting @ school, at home, et al. I used to have this.....rage in me all the time. I decided when I was 11-12ish to get baptized. I remember stepping into the baptismal pool, and the minister telling me to cross my arms and lean back into his arms, so I did. I very distinctly remember going back into the water and just kinda hanging out.....and then going under again? Who gets put under twice? The minister had this quizzical look on his face after I came up the second time, as did his assistant. Later that day, I asked my mom about why I went under twice (my family was there, of course), and she quietly replied, "Because you were fighting on the way down, and they couldn't get you under." I have *no* recollection of that being my experience AT ALL. My recollection completely contradicts that. I used to rent out a house that was haunted. Confirmed that I don't sleep walk, my ex didn't sleep walk, either. The door leading to the garage had 3 locks on it, and the top deadbolt was about 4' off the ground. It would unlock itself all the time @ night. On nights that my ex was away and I was the only one it the house, it would still happen. I would sleep in the living room, the door would be locked when I went to sleep, and when I awoke, it was unlocked. Happened all the time. I was sitting in bed one night watching tv, and I saw this shadow image of a kid run through the door, run in front of the tv, run around to my side of the bed, and just kinda fade away. My ex had a son that was ~3 @ the time, and we kept a little radio on a shelf high above his bed. Even if he stood on his bed, he couldn't reach it. The radio was this cheap little battery powered thing, where the on/off knob was incorporated with the volume, so you'd have to turn the volume button to turn it on, then turn it up from there. Now, my ex could sleep through a hurricane. I left for work before she did, and on my way in one morning, she called me and was bitching me out for turning on his radio "full blast". Said that he woke up crying, and it was blaring when she went in there. He couldn't *reach* the radio, much less turn it on. Have tons more stories, but things progressively got worse there, so we had to move out. Worst 2 experiences happened ~10-15 years ago. I'll preface the first story by admitting I have sleep paralysis on a pretty regular basis, still. I was in an apartment at the time, and I fell into paralysis on my bed, facing the bedroom door. The bathroom was next to the door, and I saw a demonic looking entity walk slowly through the bedroom door, turn, look at me, walk into the bathroom, stand in front of the mirror for a couple seconds, turn and stare at me again, then walk back out the door. Same time frame, same apartment. I had a dream that I'm being chased by a demon (used to have those dreams all the time, not so much anymore). In this particular one, I ran and hid under my bed. I saw his feet walk through the door, just like last time, walk into the bathroom, just like last time, and then walk towards the bed. His feet just disappear. In my dream, I'm lying on my back, and I push off the wall to slide out from under the bed. When I get my head and shoulders out, I see the entity, sitting on my bed, looking down @ me. It said, "Just so you know this isn't a dream"....and then he leaned down and pressed a finger to the ball of my shoulder, and it burned. I woke up at that point and ran to the bathroom. To this day, I have this inexplicable mark on my shoulder that is shaped like the first digit of a finger being burned into my skin. No, didn't have it there before....never injured that shoulder, scratched it, nothing. For those that casually dismiss spirituality......I hope you never have the experiences I've had :-| Last edited by whats77inaname; 09-19-2012 at 05:46 PM.. |

Yeah, I wasn't too happy about them, either.
To preface my condition, I'm a completely sane person. Never tried any type of drugs, have always been completely healthy, don't very much (maybe a drink every couple weeks) don't smoke, etc. I know mankind doesn't have a grasp on the human brain and all that it is capable of, but the whole sleep paralysis thing....millions of people experience it, and somehow, *everyone* has the feeling that there is another presence in the room and we *all* see.....something? When I experience it, it's always the same thing....can't move, eyes are open, but I, for lack of a better word *feel* something menacing advancing towards me....and the feeling is consuming....very frightening. I can feel the onset, and when it starts, I'll have repeated episodes that night. What sucks is when it happens, when I finally "snap out of it", unless I physically get out of bed and do something for a few minutes (walk to the kitchen, bathroom, etc), it'll happen again. What I've noticed (as it has been occurring a lot more frequently, and I'm trying to minimize the severity of the incidents) is that: a) if I get up and turn the light on and go back to sleep, it stops immediately. b) I have a necklace with a cross on it. I take it off before bed, but if I put it back on (with the lights still off), it stops immediately. I've had successive episodes in which I'm letting it happen by purposesly *not* getting up and moving about, and I then I'll do either a) or b) and they work every single time, no matter the number of episodes I've experienced at that point. Cool stories, I've just started having some weird things going on with me lately starting with the computer turning on several weeks ago then about 2 weeks ago on a Monday night I was sleeping on the couch while my 4 yr old daughter was watching TV. It must have been about 10 or 11 when I was dozing off, I could remember her still sitting there watching TV and then when I woke up again a cpl of hours later she had gone into the room to sleep with my wife. So I turned the tv off and went back to sleep on the couch. Something strange happened later in the night when I felt my daughter lay beside me and felt her head on my chest I even felt my heart beat faster I wasn't sure if it was just a dream or if she went back to sleep in the room with her mom but I woke up again and she was gone. This time I checked the time and it was only 2:32 am. I didn't tell my wife about this until a week after then she replied it was our unborn child. I brushed it off as stress from when my wife dropped the P-bomb on me last month...

The mind is a very powerful thing.
google hypnagogic and hypnapompic hallucinations to learn more about these "normal" hallucinations. And to clarify, everybody is paralyzed in certain parts of their sleep, it is called REM or rapid eye movement. I am a big believer in "prove it or it ain't real" philosophy, however, I did grow up in a haunted house for a good part of my childhood. Few recollections I have during that time include night terrors to a point where I would wake up covered in sweat and screaming. I had many nightmares about hands reaching out to get me and walls coming to life and reaching out for me. It was a 2 story house with wooded floors, and late at night when everybody was asleep you could hear the floors screaching as if somebody was walking up the stairs. All true stories, actually kind of freaks me out just to think about it. |

Oh and check this guys:
My mother and her siblings all flew out to visit my grandfather in the hospital because he was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. They all went to the house for the night. Sometime during the night the doorbell rang, so ofcourse everybody woke up and one of my uncles opened the door, and there was nobody at the door. Approximately 30 seconds later they received a phone call from the doctor telling them that my grandfather had passed away. True story guys |

I've experienced "sleep paralysis" first hand as well, when i was younger.
It happened when i was 15 ish, totally forgot how old i was. I clearly remembered that i was terrified of that house, it seemed like something was always watching me. One night i slept in my father's room and had closed the door (there used to be a dedicated computer room, where my dad slept). In the middle of the night, in the middle of deep slumber, i wake up abruptly. It was as if somebody had pulled my eyes open and it suddenly became very cold (i was in thick winter blankets, cause thats how we roll in canada.). My eyes slowly turned from the left side of the room towards the right side of the room, where the door was. It then felt as if some menacing entity was slowly walking up the stairs towards the door and towards me. It felt colder the closer that entity came, i then heard a very menacing laugh "HAHAHAHAH" and then "your never going to leave". My family is a stereotypical asian family and as a kid my father taught me some buddhist rhyme/prayer, or whatever they're called. I recite it in my head hoping it would go away. Halfway through the verse, i regained control of my body and the room suddenly became room temperature again. I freaked out and hid in the blankets and after 20 mins i ran over to the lights and turned it on. Told my mom, and she got me some buddhist charms for me to carry in my wallet. Ever since then, i've always carried it with me and never had "sleep paralysis" happen to me ever again *knock on wood*. True Story of a first hand experience Pardon me for my bad punctuation and grammar. In my defence, i'm not an english major. |

Whoaaa....this thread is getting good. Some really freaky first hand experiences here.
I'm planning on doing a ghost tour with some friends, one of them is terrified of ghosts so I am still trying to convince her. The tour guide takes you on a 2 hour tour to buildings that apparently have paranormal activity occur in them. Stay tuned.
