E90 325 Muffler Delete !!!!

did the mod. didnt take out resonator... think its loud enough with the muffler deleted... no vibrations in the car... cant really hear much noise below 2000 revs.. which is a good thing, that way i dont scare all my neighbours when i go back home. will post more pics by tmr. thanks you guys !

unfortunately, 5 cars in my garage got broken into on sunday morning (including mine) hence the other pictures that you see in the same album!! am very pissed !! ... lost an ipod and some change but most importantly i got to get a new window now!!!

Got my res. and mufflers removed today at American Muffler in Westbury (p.s when i went to get it done the guy Steve said another kid came in asking to do the same thing to his e90 the day after i made my appointment, who you be lol). Anyone in the long island area i highly recomend American Muffler!! Any way car sounds GREAT, loud but not obnoxious, deff. an attention grabber when you stomp on it.

as you guys know, i got my window broken the day after i got my muffler removed. i just sent my car into the dealership yesterday. the service assistant didnt mention anything bout my muffler being removed... he just asked if i modified my exhaust...and i said yes and he says it sounds pretty good. let's see if bmw gives me any trouble for doing this when i pick up my car early next week....

take note, this is a leased car.

Joining the army:
Did this 2 days ago, paid $200. Yep that's more than others have paid, but I asked to weld together 2 magnaflow tips which cost $65 each. I love the look and the sound.

awesome.... hope you like it... i love mine and i dont think its too loud either... just the right sound... i was really afraid of how loud its going to be.

This is indeed the best mod for the e90!
Sounds better in any muffler in my opinion. Sounds bad ass and it's not too loud. Hell for 100$, best mod I've done all year. Extended "props" goes to ScheerSpeed!

i think there's slight drone above 2500 rpm or so... but with the windows up and all doors closed, i hardly notice it... with the windows down, it would be more obvious...

i've ridden in a car with an ikon exhaust installed and doing this mod gives slightly louder sound but the drone is very similar i think....

Actually with an after market Intake I have no drone...
Sometime I can hear some drone but BARELY.
It's clean all the way. The way I like it!

i dont advise you to do both. its too loud and raspy...unless you want your car sounding like a civic.

This thread got long! checking out the latest resonator and muffler delete photo and weld job and it looks very very temping. Not sure if my neighbors going to like it. Any recommended shop in the LA area??

scheerspeed: can you elaborate more on the resonator mod for retaining backpressure?

here is my interpretation:

The OEM pipe from the engine to the resonator is diamerter X and the pipe exiting the resonator is diameter X-Y, where Y is a small value. In addition, the pipe exiting the resonator extended into the resonator device about 2 inches. So the reduction in pipe diameter (from inlet to outlet) and maybe shortening of the exhast path within the resonator makes up for the backpressure of the OEM exhaust effect.

Anyone with engineering support?

Muffler only. No intake in the video, but I added Simota a month ago.
