Want to buy a flash based tuned ASAP

Hello Everyone

I am very interested in this and I have a question for Shiv. When will this be released and is it possible to have my car dyno tuned at your shop using it? I don't mind the drive from Sac to your shop. I have a 2011 335is which is completely stock. I was strongly considering buying a Cobb AP and buying an etune this month until I saw this thread. I just want a flash based tuned until the warranty is over then I will go FBO and maybe upgraded turbos. I really want an e40 tune to ran and then be able to return to stock for dealer visits. I really like what I have read about the open source tuning and all of the control you would have over the car. Thanks for any replies.

if COBB isn't flash based, then what is it?

Reading from between the lines he wants his car custom flash tuned by a certain professional with a lot of tuning experience in general and the most tuning experience with N54.

You are confused. The guy wanted to have flash only. It means he doesn't need the extra processing power of a piggyback in this case. No need to pay for the hardware.

Garage List
If this requires special hardware, it can still be considered open source if one or more of the following are met:

- Complete hardware schematics are published.
- DIY kits made available for cost of materials plus handling.
- Pre-assembled kits made available for cost of materials plus assembly and handling.

No new updates other than the turbo replacement was approved. Hopefully they will have it finished next week, including a new set of injectors and coils. One can only wish.

Then I'll be looking forward to flashing my car.

Since when did earning a living become a sin? Shiv may make some money providing custom tunes to individuals, so what?!

If Rombinhood is able to offer us an open source software platform and there is some initial hardware investment, so be it. No one is forcing you to get involved. What's exciting about this is the community involvement on the tuning side of things.

All other open source tuning platforms require some kind of hardware investment. Don't believe me? Read this thread: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1410201

Those of you that have made a past-time out of latching onto threads that have anything to do with Shiv and poisoning them with nonsense should really consider finding something more productive to do with your time. There is nothing to be gained from bringing other's down.

Agreed. Obviously our dcan cables are incapable of flashing. The dme clearly doesn't already have the failsafes already built in.

Could this not be based off using WinkFP in BMW Standard Tools? I have flashed my DME with Alpina software and back to stock a number of times with the d can cable.

Could someone explane why this should not work when it does work with no ill effects.

Use Winkfp and your d can cable to play with the Alpina MSD 80 files,I played with it for a while for some entertainment and flashed back to stock with no ill effects.
