If I had to guess there is a difference in the CAN settings in this section of the calibration file.

After comparing the 7623588 and 7623586 bin file, there are only 4 addresses bytes that are different. 0x486C, 0x4888, 0x4913, 0x4B1A. I wonder if I modify the 4 addresses value of your file to 7623588 value will fix the issue and gain the benefit of your extra tuning, since your file was based on 7623586.
However I have no idea what those functions are....worth trying? |

I compared the values in each bin, 3 of them seems related to INSTR 7 which meets the 2DE3 error code kombi-7. 486C seems related to the 2DE1 and 2DE2 fuel level sensor error Last edited by ivanchen1211; 03-27-2025 at 12:46 PM.. |

Well, it is very interesting since in previous post hassmachine indicate that the difference is c_abc_inc_tout_icl_3 and c_abc_max_tout_icl_3 but those values are identical in 7623588 and 7623586

Hi all,
This is a really useful thread with loads of useful info! I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction to help with a 3 stage manifold upgrade on my UK spec n52 2.5i. The 3 stage manifold is fitted and my goal is to get the car to the same power as a 2.5si, as the key difference is the 3 stage manifold (based on my research). I've tried what I can do with bimmer labs and have flashed the rsa delete and trying to run the 2.5si tune (7581342). I get the 2FA4 error which puts the car into limp mode. I've tried running the stock tune instead of the rsa delete which runs into the same problem. Car runs fine with the stock 2.5i tune with or without the rsa delete. As I understand it its to do with the power class which in some cases you can edit using NCS expert by matching the CAS powerclass to the 6BMOT, but I don't seem to be able to access the CAS with the E85 chassis in NCS expert to be able to do this (but by the sounds of it that is locked out after 10 hours anyway). I think this issue is solved in the custom 330 3 stage manifold tunes as the power class byte is changed and it looks like a map exists for the 3.0i to 3.0si upgrade, but I haven't managed to find anything that works for the 2.5i to the 2.5si 3 stage upgrade. Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction as to how to solve this? And I have turned to chatgpt to see if it can work out where the power class byte might be between the 2.5si.bin file and the 2.5i bin file but had no luck! |

Thanks! Yes I've seen that, but for whatever reason I'm unable to get to the CAS ECU through NCS expert for the E85 chassis (if I select the E89 chassis it gives me the option to select the CAS ECU) so I assume that isn't possible on the E85 chassis or or doesn't have one?! Although I could be missing something as not really used NCS expert much. So I get these options when selecting the E85 chassis: Whereas on the E89 chassis for example you can select the CAS ecu: Last edited by dt99; 04-09-2025 at 05:29 PM.. |

Unfortunately I do not know. ChatGPT says that 2002-2004 models may not have a CAS at all. You could look for it under the dash above your pedals. I believe there would be a white box there labeled "CAS". If you don't have a CAS module, I'm not sure of the solution.

I asked ChatGPT and it said to try the following. I take no responsibility if this is wrong or destroys your car
![]() 🔧 Step-by-Step: Update Power Class Without CAS - Launch NCS Expert Use the "Expertmode" profile. - Read the FA (Vehicle Order) Select chassis: E85 Select ECU: choose AKMB Press F2 (FA/VO) → then F1 (Enter VIN) → enter your VIN Press F6 (Back) - Change FA/VO Power Class Press F4 (Process ECU) → select AKMB Press F5 (Change ZCS/FA) Add or update 6BMOT with the correct power class code (e.g., N46, M54, etc.) Then press F6 (Back) to return. - Write the Updated FA to Modules Press F6 (Back) again Press F5 (Change ZCS/FA) again if needed Then choose AKMB, and then ALSZ to write the new FA to both modules. NCS Expert should confirm the new FA has been written. |

That makes me nervous! I'm not sure I want to try that as the car is at least running with the 2.5i tune! I am more comfortable modifying the .bin files for the 2.5i and 2.5si trying to change the relevant power class but I don't know which byte value to change. Does anybody know which byte is the power class byte on the E85 2.5i and 2.5si tune? At this stage I'd happily pay someone to make me a tune file! Last edited by dt99; 04-10-2025 at 12:32 PM.. |

I used a 2.5si VIN and there are over 3 hundreds of stock tune I used one of them and modified power class from 01 to 00 Can you share your VIN? By the way E85 Z4 does not have a CAS, it uses the old EWS Also, the ChatGPT above was just giving out useless nonsense info... edit: I have updated the link with 7581341 file that stated 2.5si ECE with modified power class from 01 to 00 OK i have delete the file link as I stupidly edited 2190 instead of 2191... Try pull off Disa valve cable after flash, if it is successful, DISA valve error will pop up. Last edited by ivanchen1211; 04-11-2025 at 11:36 AM.. |
