Yeah but don't forget that 2 of those days was that BMW event which had like....... no track time at all.

... on the other hand, thinking about it, I had 4 track days, of which 1 was the Viperclub Calabogie where I was doing 40 min sessions, and 1 was the lap day, where we did 7x30min sessions. So I guess that's a pretty solid amount of track time. But I'm kind of regretting not having gone with PFC now.

That said, the front rotors are almost unworn. Barely any grooving around the edge. Maybe they aren't so bad... the rears still have lots of life left, and I got them at 80% or so life in the first place.

My carbotechs lasted about 8-9 track days. I rate them as average pads even though the reviews seem to place them as an above average option.

I didn't have any luck with Carbotechs when I tried them with my OEM BMW rotors. Had good results with EBC, Hawk and PF. I was telling the guys how happy I am about my PFs pads and rotors on my track setup. 29 track days. Cant say enough about them.

I really liked the grip and bite, but the wear was just absolutely terrible.

What's worse is I just got a set of 1521s, their "street" pads, to be my off-track pads... so I don't know what I'll do next year. Strangely, the rears are holding up fine. I might buy another front set, which should completely waste the fronts and rears, and then in 2015 switch to some other pad brand.

Off topic: what is the "scenic" route to get to Tremblant that many people seem to take? Going there this weeked, might as well not take the 15.

I depends how scenic you want to get. I like taking the 344 west to the 329 or 323 up to Tremblant.

I took the 327 from Lachute off the 50 last time I went, I had a blast.

Sounds about right as a scenic route.

To get to the 327, you can go via the 364 (shorter) or the148 (much more scenic).

Spotted on the 15 south, from blainville to the 13 south exit on the 640, a white e92 M3, slammed, with a pretty nice stance, and a blue brembo BBK, awesome car if anyone knows the owner.

Hello,
I'm new around...
Is there anyone from MTL that can help me with some coding? I need to code my car after a complete CIC retrofit.

Just got back from the BMW drive event at Icar.

Happy to have tried out the new X5, 8cyl 5.0 and turbo 6 cyl. Drove well both of them, didn't feel the weight, felt like driving a car. But will never buy one he he!

As for the 428 and 435, I was quite impressed the 2l turbo felt peppy, didn't feel too underpowered compared to the 435, but this is low speed event.

Hated the thick A pillar, even thicker than in the e90/92. Ok now bring on the 2 series.... should be more fun!

I went on Saturday with vanosracing.

I preferred the 6cyl. X5 rather than the 8 cyl. The engine power felt better balanced in the vehicle. Sometimes, too much power isn't the best solution. Now this test was on a closed and tight circuit. I would probably have a different opinion on a longer test.

I hate when they try to tell you that the X5 drives like a car and then, they let us try a 435xi right after. Funny that the 435xi does not drive the same as an X5. So BS on that. An X5 drives much better than a Pathfinder, a F150, or a Ford Transit. It doesn't drive the same as a car.

As for the 4 series. Very nice cars. Could not see the difference between the different offerings. 428xi, 435xi, some with 19in wheels, some with M Sport. Did not see any difference between them. I did make the wheels screech all around the circuit. Driving very close to the limit.

What I really liked was the headsup display. Very impressive. I do want that.

if no M2, maybe a used 2008 Z4M Coupe

Hopefully M2, cos 4 wheels can fit in it

This whole real M not pretend as to stop. In the old days BMW had the iS models whish were excellent and a stepping stone to the M cars. The M135i, M235i, etc... are all very good cars and for most all they will ever need.

It will be interesting to see what BMW does with the M2 and how they price it because it could really hurt their M3 and M4. You will be able to get a M235i sub $50K, I don't think you will get a M2 under $60K.

Are modern day M's as meaningful as the glory day M's or are they now more of a "M"arketing tool? I vouch for the latter, I think BMW needs a new hardcore M line along the lines of CSL territory.

Well as you mention, constructors are trying to sweep the widest possible with their models. Audi started the S models first, then came up with their more hardcore RS models.

While BMW did similar approach before the first M3, they have since remained with the unique M versions (wikipedia). I guess they feel pressured by the competition to do the same as Audi for one, this is also true for the direction fuel efficiency is taking forcing them to adopt turbos, as well as the 2l turbo base engine for the 3 series, instead of their venerable inline 6. Electric steering is also same story.

It's been a while BMW is seen to "follow" instead of "lead" the market. They are being pushed, powerwise as well as pricewise (Mercedes CLA 45 AMG is a perfect example, C63 is another).

http://www.leftlanenews.com/next-mer...-turbo-v8.html

The Twin Turbo V8 will at least be 450 hp. If Merc's turbo 2L can make 355hp, the 4L twin turbo should be a monster compared to BMW's 3L twins.

While this is all good overall for the wallets of prospective buyers, it does not yet give driving enthusiasts what they really want.
