Wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. The most time consuming part was when the new evap came and I saw that the pipe bends were pretty far off from original. Had to be careful while bending them so that welds don't crack. All in all DIY-able, 6/10 in difficulty. Timewise probably around 9h, but I split it in two days 4-5h each.
Would recommend anyone who is thinking about doing it themselves! Great way to better know your car.

Oh yeah, managed to break off the head of the bleeding screw and nothing is working for the next few days so i had to DIY that too...

Nice! What were your symptoms? I’m assuming you went with an aftermarket evap, what brand?

The N52 528i decided to leak out a good 2 liters of coolant. Yet I can’t find the leak. I think I’ll need to take it to have it pressure tested somewhere… No dried residue anywhere that I can se.
Well the first was that the system would hold freon for like 5 days and then there would be no cold air blowing. Also there was a specific smell from the vents in the first 5-10 seconds (If you take off the caps where you would fill it with freon, in the engine compartment, and smell them, that's the same smell.) After some google-ing I found out the the evap core is a pretty common part to fail. Also, looked in the engine bay with an UV lamp for leaks.

The evap was some cheap polish brand.

And to answer Nando_e90 question, mostly did it using my hands and some wood pieces. It should be plug and play if you don't cheap out like I did!

If you are gonna do it, just buy some ziplock bags and a marker, label everything and watch some videos about it on Youtube. Good luck guys!

A quick oil and filter change, replaced with 5 litres of Castrol and can of Ceratec, and a quick wash. Seems slightly quieter, but that might just be my imagination. I suppose only time will tell.

Ordered a Mr12Volt CarPlay unit. So excited!

Now on to backup cameras… any particular model someone here has used in the past?

Widebody kit should be here on my birthday

Also started to take apart a few small things to be color matched. Stoked on the headlight mods.

Amazon has one built into the trunk handle. Serf27 how do you like yours?

On things I did today:
Successfully coded flashing break force display on the 328. I never got it to work on my 330. Now that I know how to, I'll be trying it again

I’ve had one of those handles for years. It doesn’t plug into anything though haha.

I'm curious, what are your main use cases?

I'm about to try retrofitting the Combox in my non-iDrive car, simply to get good a good iPhone -> USB music connection, but I'm not yet convinced that I shouldn't have pursued an aftermarket solution.

Everyone has a different use case/priority, though.

The combox is a notable upgrade from the MULF system. If plugged in via USB, you can hear the difference between the two when using Apple Music Lossless. The iOS integration is nice too (text / iMessage in iDrive).

Unfortunately, my original CIC is having power related issues and has now developed MOST issues (will sometimes take down the MOST bus/stop transmitting a signal to the combox). I can’t seem to activate the replacement CIC I have fully with nav/connecteddrive, and traffic updates have stopped broadcasting in my area. Plus with a 300GB Apple Music library, the combox sometimes has issues parsing what track is playing.

So for the CarPlay functionality (Maps/Apple Music/Podcasts) plus the backup camera ability, it was a no brainer. Mr12Volt is the only option for me, uses MOST for a fully digital input. Plus you get the graphic equalizer too. I have the Individual Audio speakers paired with a PP82DSP amp, don’t want to loose audio quality!

Sweet! I'm planning to retrofit the Individual Audio speakers and power them with an MS-8 + JL amp for the under seat woofers. Like you, I want to make sure my source is the best possible quality.

I've had to replace four tires in nine years because of the Nashville potholes, the fourth being mounted this afternoon. Funny, I had zero issues living in the Atlanta area for twenty years.

Yeesh. If it makes you feel better, ATL roads have gotten awful - between my E46 and old E90, I replaced one rim and had 7! wheels straightened. Not too mention at least 5 tires (at that time, I ran exclusively Michelin Pilot Sport all seasons).

It’s just getting bad down here. Not nearly enough money spent on roads and schools…

You’ll love them! Very nice response curve, in my experience they need some taming in the 5-7khz range. Definitely on par with high end aftermarket stuff. They love power though (what speaker doesn’t), the JL-amp will pair nicely with them indeed.
The DAC in the combox is pretty good, but FYI it cannot handle super high-res lossless (above 48Khz sampling). That’s the other difference - the Y-cable used for the MULF system still passes audio through Aux, so while you’re using the device’s DAC (if on an iPhone, a damed good one), it’s still an analog source. The Combox makes that interface digital.

I lived in downtown Atlanta for fifteen years and those metal plates were everywhere but I never had an incident with potholes. I then moved an hour east to Madison and the worst road was Hwy83 heading up to Athens and still no pothole encounters. I have a set of VMR wheels on order and I stuck with 18" despite my desire to go with 19" for esthetics.

Reached the 100k mile club on the 2006, celebrated the occasion with:

-Valve Cover Gasket
-Rear Shocks
-Mechatronic seals on ZF trans
-Oil, Brake & Rear Diff Fluid
-Front thrust arms
-Alignment

Always good when the car makes you smile after some repairs.

Got a pair of fresh 275/30/19 PS4S for the rears. Although initial turn in is subdued vs 265’s in the rear, definitely feels more planted mid turn and in long sweepers paired with 245’s in front (almost like adding a slightly stiffer sway bar). The fresh 275’s also just grips and goes in a straight line!

They don't look as good, but 16" tires will sure fare better from a pothole hit.

New runflat after running over something on the highway and ordered another good ole OFHG and puller, idler and belt since it's starting to leak.
