I used Cerakote for my first time coating and the car looks great even after a few showers, I had a little left over and used it on my new wheels front and back.

I had the new wheels mounted and see that the offset is a little aggressive, I'll have the fenders rolled soon but I'm please with the mild stretch.

Was looking at some interior fit and finish stuff and seat track end caps came to mind. Man they're expensive for what they are. Decided it would be a fun project in my spare time. They're about as close to OEM as possible. This was the one I was after, but I think if the model was mirrored they'd fit all corners. Available to download and print for anybody interested, working on a few different styles...
And some interior trim install pics for the final look. They baked in the car for a few days, then I pulled and wet sanded them, it was needed...

Fixed driver side tweeter plug connection. It was loose from previos work I did when I removed the door card. No more static noise from it.
Replaced broken door card holding plugs/clips. Installed X1 steering wheel trim. Last edited by codeterrorist; 06-14-2024 at 11:56 PM.. |

Ask and you will receive, I stopped for a little beer and thought the dirty car with new wheels and the dumpster worked...

No longer have the time/patience/knowledge to finish the 330 so.. Sprayed it down real quick in preparation to send it in to someone else to do it

Got back from vacation at 2 something am, Saturday, then slept in and got up at 12 noon and got to work doing the other new front strut mount. Then got started on the new f30 340mm brembos with akebono ceramic pads in the 100+ degree heat… got those on in time for cars n coffee tomorrow.
Still need to do the e90 335 rears tomorrow. Old vs new.

I was watching videos for weeks, and read on that. According to internet, it's a 50h job for a newbee. So yeah, not so sure now. |

Yup. Was not looking forward to doing inlays and large pieces so close to the ground by myself. I feel like I could do it, but I'd worried about edges peeling up even with knifeless tape

Bought a "modern spare" kit off Craigslist. Wasn’t planning on getting a spare this year, but it was hard to turn down for $75. The kit Includes wheel w/tire, bag, scissor jack & lug wrench. Now I can get rid of the runflats when I wear mine out.

Take it out as try it front and rear, especially front to make sure it clears calipers without needing a spacer and extended lugs.

Changed a valve stem on the TPMS sensor that was leaking. The securing nut was frozen to the valve stem and had to dremel through the valve stem and drill out what was left below surface. Dropped the sensor into the tire (only broke the outside bead) and it was a needless hour to fish it out even though I had taped it in place to prevent this. No leak now and just have to reset the TPMS.

So I whipped out the old (3 year old) lower shock mounts today and replaced them. It’s fair to say I’ve found the source of my suspension issues. The offside one had completely separated where the shock bolts in, leaving a metal plate to flap around. The nearside one wasn’t much better and showed signs that it was going the same way.

Whelp. Broke down and ordered a new evaporator and heater core.
Found a shop that had ordered the OE BMW parts by accident - so $200 combined for the updated Valeo evaporator and heater core parts, score! Between the musty smell and the fact my 1988 Mercedes has better AC performance, well, it was time… |
