Finally installed the tow strap up front. Was so happy to see it would fit behind the tow hook cover (made a pass through for the strap). Debating putting the other one in the rear. Leaning towards no

Staying cool

In the last couple weeks, I reverted from the OE short shift lever back to the longer stock lever, and am happier with the lower shift effort.

I also plugged in a Euro IAT sensor to replace the MAF since I'm running the 330i NoMAF tune. It could be in my head, but I think she runs a little smoother and gets better gas mileage.

Today, I cleaned my K&N filter for the first time ever, and cut a hole in my airbox for my version of the DIYnan cold air intake:

I may or may not post more pics depending on how the final result turns out.

Some cheap version off Ali Express. Local installers wanted an arm and a leg to fit one for me. Uses the aux or bluetooth (if your car’s equipped with it + combox).

My sat nav apps only have audio via the aux so I use aux output on journeys to unfamiliar places (aux sound quality isn’t as good as Bluetooth option) but my Apple Music plays via the car’s Bluetooth. Yet to work that one out. The box connects wirelessly to my phone at the moment but it’s got a USB plug I’m yet to try.

This was the video I watched while fitting. Similar kit, No quad lock and the headache of trying to fit somewhere behind the CiC unit. -

New Shift Handle

I swapped out my stock leather automatic shift handle with a BMW Performance Shifter. This is the first automatic transmission care I've owned so the manual shifter feels more comfortable to me and I always leaver my right hand on the shift knob when I've driving.

Spent $500 at FCP to get their current $50 off coupon. Brakes, tension struts, filters, some misc to put me over the line. Technically you need to spend $550.01 in order to get the $50 off. I have a decent leak, so was tempted to get a valve cover as well. I'll put that off for a minute... don't want to get into that job yet!

wtf's going on lately on the forum ?

I'm here since a while, and lately there's a ton of new register, more than usual , asking a single question and never come back.

The questions seems too legit to be a bot.

So please guys, when you have a question , 1st search (use google, better than vbulletin search) and if you find a fix, PLEASE REPORT !

It comes in waves, new members posting on subjects that have been beaten to death, bumping threads long dead and others that think that they know everything.

Hey, still beats FB.

I buttoned up my cold air setup.

It works, though I may still clean up the aesthetics a bit and shorten the flange on the airbox to improve fitment.

I will say, I was looking everywhere for BMW's software to code the car and I searched everywhere using google until I made a thread and someone pointed me to an obvious answer..

Drove the 335i after 2 weeks (was out of town). AC now completely doesn’t work. Thankfully scheduled an AC inspection for tomorrow - I’m planning on doing the evap anyway but want to make sure there isn’t another leak, from the condenser, schrader valves, etc.

Pressures in ISTA are reported as 10 bar, max. Hovers around 7-8 bar most of the time.

Started up just fine though!

Rear brake rotors, pads and fluid

Rear brake rotors (Zimmerman) and pads (Akebono). Then bled the brake fluid all around. First time I did this job.
- Took some penetrating oil sprays and few whacks with a sledge hammer to get the rotors off.
- Very concerning scraping sound when you start driving, but of course that's how it works and it went away lol
- I've replaced the pads before, so will ship these back to FCP and get em for kinda free.
- The calipers work fine but they are looking pretty rusty now. Should I care?

You can refinish the calipers and repaint, I went with black as they're too small to draw attention to unless you have a BBK.

Whelp. Good news and bad. Car was slightly low on r134, however the compressor is not making enough pressure on the low side. Car is getting a new Denso AC compressor. $1910 installed. Ouch, but in this case I’d rather have a shop handle it…

I may have a small leak in the evap. But no way in hell I’m doing that job if I don’t need to in 100 F heat. I’ll wait until September to do that job, along with the heater core.

are you sure this is the compressor ?

Go do a vacuum / leak test first. way cheaper.

Pressure is not all, but mass is also a factor, this is why we fill by mass and not pressure

Hoody - how did you know your compressor is weak? High side pressure reading lower but low side pressure is normal?

I’m fed up of my AC being sub-par

Shop diagnosed it as a weak compressor. And to be fair I’ve suspected it ever since I bought the car - it’s moaned at low rpms. The AC in the 2011 has never been as good as the 2009…

Vacuum test was performed with the evac and recharge. Way I see it, if it’s not the compressor, they’ll need to refund me the money / put my existing compressor in.

Mine moans when it’s low on refrigerant, but if it’s moaning when charged with the correct weight of r-134a - then I guess you have a bigger problem.
Fingers crossed it fixes the problem for you
