MY king is dead. The story is the same. Early 07 build step. First time ever in (for Sirius and service) a few months ago. I asked that MY engine software not be reprogrammed. SA assured me that it would "not be necessary". Guess what, they reprogrammed MY engine electronics anyway. It's like taking YOUR "worlds best pit bull" to the vet for a lipstick change and a hair cut and they neuter him without your consent. But hey, he's still within their specs. Now I see on this thread that detuning the engine has not prevented the wastegate rattle. Remember, time wounds all heels. BMW, please step up and take it like a man. Maybe the "bait" is the free service and the "switch" leads to fewer warranty claims. It's not working BMW. I am taking MY car to dyno city next week to start the process of proving that MY car (after it got the addalagtomy) is not the same car that I paid for. I want MY car back BMW, whatever it takes.

Like I said I live in Chicago and I am more than willing to meet up with ya. You can drive my car and if you would be so gracious to let me drive your car, I can give your statements credibility...

Trying to add to the solution, not the problem. I cannot detect the lag, but that doesn't necessarily mean I don't have it. I live in Mt Prospect (along the NW train line, about 6 miles north of O'Hare), so if you want to meet up somewhere to test, I'm game. I should be free next weekend.

I checked mine and they seem okay Meyer. Out of curiousity, what changes if any did you experience after adjusting?

Don't forget, call BMW and talk to your phone rep, then post with what they have to say. My prediction (I am psychic!):
- "Hmm, this is the first we've heard of this."
But there is a 114 page thread on the internet about it involving literally hundreds of people within one small fraction of the BMW owner community
-" Hmm, yeah, this is the first time we've heard about it."

also don't forget to file a complaint with the better business bureau. It's worth the trouble and adds another layer of documentation.

Meyer,
I meant to ask...so, it sounds like you have your car BACK? And it's still not right? Sorry if I misread. I was just shocked since I thought they weren't returning it to you until they had a definitive answer.
It's also hard to read this thread at work now, with that damn stupid picture of that fat girl, which I have to fly by each time, so it doesn't stay on my screen. Christ.

Yep, make sure everyone does this. I got a call yesterday from BMW about a claim I put into the BBB about 4-5 weeks ago. I called the number back but have yet to receive a call back. Obviously the BBB contacted BMW so I suggest everyone write a complaint. It does not take that long.

Yup. It came back with v31.1 (E89X-08-09-520), which was no cure. At least the visit was good to analyse the problem. They promised to bring out a field service fix (aka Progman release) for the turbo lag in late december or start of 2009. They did not want to do anything special to my car - downgrading was not an option any more because of the defective steering wheel.

At least the car is a little better than it was with v30.

Unfortunately no. I thought my dealer would honor my request not to update. Silly me.
The car I purchased had 300 lbs of torque from 1400 to 5000 RPM's and 300 HP at 5600
RPM and infinitesimal lag, if any at all, per Car and Driver, October 2006. Would they lie?

Central NJ forum members

Are there any central NJ forum members who have the "LAG" and would let me test drive their car to see what everyone is talking about.

I have a 10/23/07 build 335i coupe. Not sure what revison software I have, but your welcome to test drive mine as well. I live in Manalapan.

Unfortunately no what? I'm missing something. Did you call em up and give em hell? Let us know if you need the 1800#, or just look in the 29.2 Check-In thread.

I just saw on other forum that somebody picked up 2009 e92 yesterday with V32 (he got that in writing). Lag is still not fixed. We will see after he post the details of the software version.

Sorry. I was answering a question from iScream re dyno. I have spoken to BMWNA many times. They call my cell phone, leave a message and call me back in 20 minutes and cuss me out for not answering their call immediately. Nice. Hi Eileen.

they emailed me. Documentation ftw! With luck I will meet with the reigonal tech and finally get somewhere.

It's annoying that they ignore most of the facts I stated though and are trying the "your car performs as designed" crap. At least their nonresponsiveness is also documented. I'm through with calling unless I find a call recording device.

Do you remember Erregend's post? He pointed to this SIB:

http://www.bmwtis.com/tsb/bulletins/...p/B111407g.htm

Could you lag-affected people check your vaccuum hoses and verify they are really unrestricted? When I wrote that BMW has checked everything in my car they could possibly think of, I assumed they took the time to actually inspect these parts. The hoses are fitted into some metal brackets that were very tight in my case, even leaving marks on the outside of the hoses. In some places, you can see only one of the two hoses, so you'd have to pull the front one out of the bracket to see the back one. From what I've seen on my car, I bet nobody checked those parts physically, although at first sight, there were no sharp bends.

The construction is such, that one single hose has two T-connectors to two controlling valves ("electro-pneumatic pressure transducer"), from there two hoses go on to two devices that look like air reserve buffers with ~300ml content each. From there, they go down and out of sight to the wastegates.

I loosened up some of the tighter brackets and moved the hoses at little. Could you try this and tell me of you impressions when you test your cars after that?
Given that the tubes are very flexible and easy to compress the clips BMW use are the wrong type, they ought to use figure of 8 clips, threading the tubes through them. I had no sharp bends but there was some compression. I've bent the clips to release some of the pressure. I feel there is more of a power rush now - not wanting to discuss lag.....but this almost feels more like a lag as when then power comes in now there seems to be more of it. It's chucking it down with rain, my next plan will have to wait. I'll go for a drive with the tubes totally free of the clips. I'm not thinking this fully fixes anything, it's just another variable. More of an interesting tweak.
