It melts amd liquifies the tint glue residue. If you can find a narrow plastic scraper, one narrow enough to fit between the grid lines on the rear window you’ll have no issue… except covering the rear decklid with old towels or similar cause that goop turns back to adhesive aminute later as the cleaner evaporates out. You do not want it in the upholstery/covering. A steamer is nice, tried that method too, but la awesome and a scraper gets 90% of it gone in minutes. Steamer is nice to get additional residue off after, or more LA amd a few cheap/used up microfibers you don’t mind discardingafter. Had to do windows AND sunroof on my white r53 (mini have sunroofs with no opaque shade cover so effectively a glass roof, thus the tint on it)

Went to replace the rear door actuator and fix the vapor barrier that just started leaking. Fell down the rabbit hole a bit, let's remove all the butyl and start fresh, let's rewrap the wiring harnesses and hold down clips with fresh Tesa tape. Let's wash the the dirt out of the inside of the door while in there. Hey all new door panel clips with seals might be a good idea too.
Got a used actuator from a 2016 4 series which share the same part number for the rears. Surprised how different they look compared to the 2006 original. They're also lighter, have less electrical pins and are quieter - Both the locking mechanism and also when you close the door. So that one door now feels like a quieter/LCI close when compared to the other 3, which is kind of cool. colorado.e9x I think you may be onto something updating all door lock actuators to the new model. Interested to see how your experience is and if the fronts work without issue, the part number shows pre 03/2009 front actuators as different but I don't see why they wouldn't work. Vapor barrier had completely popped off the bottom and there was a ton of butyl from the factory that had to be cleaned off. Goo Gone was helpful, but slow going, might give lacquer thinner a try on the next door. If anyone is looking for factory Butyl, I went with part number 83195A1B479 which is a good amount to probably get through all four doors and it was around the same price as the 3M stuff I used previously. |

Was planning on replacing all the lock actuators today but ended up going out of town for a car show. Anyways, found a cheap roof basket on marketplace. Decided I'd play around with it before putting it in its rightful place.
I'll be honest the only use I have for it atm is to swap to winter wheels 😂

Did another 3D print (I'm running out of ideas for this thing, lol). Realized I'm constantly getting junk in my strut tower "well" in the engine compartment. Couldn't find anything in the wild out there OEM wise, tho knowing BMW they may exist. Basically finishing caps for that area, took a few attempts for the snap in place fitment, overall I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. Available to download for anybody interested...

Snagged a few cosmetic M Sport interior parts today and threw them on real quick. Stolen valor and all that, but I like it!
The next step obviously is putting some //M badges all over the car!!! |

I installed m-sport side skirts today sourced from Ebay, 2 stage cut and polish brought them up quite nicely, some emulsion on one of them that refuses to come off though, think that's going to be a sand paper job - very pleased with the look over SE. Installed one of those wolfbox rear view mirror replacement things with dashcam, its not bad, latency is there though. A lot better than not being able to see out the back at all as have it tinted out with 5% lol, works great a night to boot. Tried using those clip on wire splicing things when hard-lining in with spotty contact, drove me slowly around the bend, so just got the soldering iron out in the end. |

Getting closer to that M Sport interior! Doing a little cleaning and update spraying to make it pop!

Same here. I did the rear parcel tray earlier in the year and it came it looking great! So I did this just to freshen up the paint. I'm not sure I'll do the actual headliner as it's not as faced/dirty as the ABC pieces, but thinking about it!
