In the US, the surname "Patel" ranks 174 among the top 500 list of most common last names, as of the 2000 US Census. In the Canadian city of Toronto, "Patel" is the sixth most common surname."

Really? Do tell. I didn't know there would have been a system that was still somewhat in use? I mean, I assumed different groups would have had their own systems - but I didn't know anything was recent enough to still be remembered? Are you Gujarat? I had a good work friend who is Gujarat - very interesting stories on the remarkable differences across the areas.

Yes, I'm a Guju.

Since we're known to negotiate on shit for fun, we have an entire book of tricks and theories that are pretty much understood by most old style Guju's.

The using different units/language trick is to throw off the seller. Most people don't know what a meter is in feet, or kilo is in lbs, or what a crore rupees is in dollars. Since we usually hunt in packs, we converse about deals on the spot.

Example:

We can't let the Porsche salesman know that the final target price with trade and tax is $54,000 for the Cayenne that has a sticker of of $90,000. We'd get kicked out before we'd even get our 2nd cup of free coffee. Hence, we never speak in English when talking amongst ourselves about his offer.

Gujarati's = Jews of India

Is the best way I can describe my people. Or at least, that's what it used to be

There's no tape involved in the production of a CD, nor the mix. Get ya facts straight!

I usually just send out my mixedtape.mp3

Kind of.

It's material that a label or music group hasn't specifically requested.

Sometimes it doesn't necessarily need agency representing, but usually they do when dealing a major label.

Anyone ever dealt with property insurance adjusters? I had some roof damage in a storm recently, and they have a guy coming out in a few days. Any tips, advice, or what to expect from the process?
