I just cant wait to see "actual" dyno numbers. The virtual dyno is cool, but until i see a graph from a car setting on rollers im holding back the excitement as best i can.

I'm going to have my car dyno'd as soon as it releases. Same place that dyno'd my car stock, with mods + stage 1, and then same mods + stage 2.

Stage 2 is pretty nice. Been running it with ETS FMIC, AR Catless DP, Stock Exhaust, DCI, meth not running. Car feels good. Logs look pretty decent. I would change a few things here and there but that is why I want ATR more than I wanted stage2 lol. After about 10 days of use I haven't had many complaints. I would like to play with the boost mapping but its more personal preference than anything else.

Hey guys, quick question. I just ordered downpipes for my car and will be installing them soon as they come in. Am I going to need a DP fix running the cobb or will I be able to clear/delete the CEL with my AP?

The stage 2 map will not throw the CEL for catless dp's.

If I am running stage 1, but add catless DP's, will the stage 1 flash still suppress/eliminate any O2 sensor codes? Or does only the stage 2 flash do that.

Hi All,

New to BMW - got a 2007 335i cabrio a couple months ago and am loving it.

Only thing the car didn't have I wanted is the sports package - which means no oil cooler. It was just too good a deal to pass up. I've researched and am looking into adding an OC, especially before/if I track the car.

A quick question about the Cobb - will it monitor oil temp and back off the boost if the temp begins to get too high? I know some of the piggyback tunes will do this, couldn't find anything in the Cobb literature to validate that it will as well (might just not know where to look).

Any and all thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

Andrew

Cobb,

Do you plan releasing economy maps eventually? It'll be nice to have a map optimized for max fuel efficiency for use on long trips.

+1 ???

Stg2 will suppress the o2 code but will I pass an o2 readiness inspection via OBD or will I still need o2 sims?

I'm pretty sure the Cobb doesn't need to do that - the engine will do it by itself.

I have tracked a 335 with no OC and a Cobb. Essentially, although it depends on how good you are (I am far from good), but what you will experience is the following:

- if you ride the redline a lot, assuming a 27 degree (Celsius... you figure out your F units ) sunny day, assuming a fast track (like Watkins Glen), you will do about 20 minutes of driving, at which point you'll have heat soak and your car will lose power on straightaways unless you are REALLY high in the revs. You should come in at this point and give the car a few minutes to chill.

- if you DO NOT ride the redline (don't forget - your power band is in the 3,500 to what, 6k rpms or so?) - you can do a FULL SESSION (i.e. 40 mins or so, depending on the club) without heat soak if you're intelligent about straightaways and so on. Just remember that your car will heat, so once in a while drive a slightly cooler lap, and the car will be fine.

I know that most people recommend FMICs, OCs and so on, but I'm just telling you that a relatively stock car (other mods, but not OC/FMIC) will nevertheless handle perfectly well on the track until you get to a skill level where you heat soak it instantly (and have the lap times to show for it <-- important, because I can heat soak a car but still drive slow as hell if I'm being an idiot).

Just my 2 cents.

TL;DR - Cobb works fine with NO oil cooler and NO FMIC and you will still have a GREAT time on the track.

[edit] forgot to mention two things. First, if you have an automatic, doing the above (NOT riding the redline) is much easier because shifting incurs no cost to you, whereas with a manual it's clutch+shift so many people don't bother (fair enough, but bad if you're missing adequate cooling). Second, if you have a cabrio, don't forget you'll need a roll bar before they let you on the track (at least with all the clubs I've been at).

I will take your word on that but personally if i hit a track it would be stage 1 91 acn with full bolt ons. Would I ever take stage 2 plus fmic agressive to VIR or poconos? Probabaly not lol.

I've been to a few track days with Cobb and 80-90 degree weather. With a stock oil cooler your will easily overheat in a 20 min session. I wouldn't run the most agressive map either.
