+1 on the butterfly flower shot! There was pretty much no dry place anywhere, there are no garages at this track... And no beer . They stopped the racing due to lightning so we ended up hanging out in a race trailer (8x22!) for about an hour waiting for the next race. Here's another shot I really liked, caught the expression on #99 as he looked sideways. Sideways Glance by ddk632, on Flickr |

One more of my favorites from weekend --
You Be Crazy!!! by ddk632, on Flickr This photo that is hilarious. When monsoon rain was starting, these 2 racers were entering a turn and you can see the rider (top, left) is looking at the other guy who is learning over and still riding hard, probably thinking "what the? you be crazy!" through his helmet! |

Was just thinking that. The rider in the white helmet is clearly in WTF mode.

I had the day off today, so I went down to Los Banos and the San Luis NRW while the temperature is unseasonably nice. No birds to speak of this time of year but there is a Tule Elk reserve there, so I made a circle out of it, to get in some train shooting after lunch. The air quality is awful due to some fires up north, but there were lots of elk about. I really need to save my pennies for a 500!

Wow! Love that shot. If I ever get into wildlife photography (which I would do at some point, would like to explore all areas eventually) - I will credit your and Dave's shots for the inspiration! Edit: Forgot to post a pic Torrential Downpour on the Track by ddk632, on Flickr On another positive note, I turned on the 6D today after being out in THAT ^^ and she's operating like brand new, no phantom live view or random changing settings anymore! Sweet! |

Another shot with my full-frame Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG fisheye. I love this lens. I just walk up to something, real close, and shoot, then I put it in my DxO Optics Pro software and "defish" it. This is about 80%, so that the prop didn't get cropped:

Nice. When you de-fish, I assume some pixels are lost - what does the effective field of view come close to? Still 15mm or closer to 16? --- Love the reflection of bike in the water: Racing Your Reflection by ddk632, on Flickr |

Here's a before and after: Untitled by dcstep, on Flickr Untitled by dcstep, on Flickr Looks to me like it's cutting around 10-degrees off each end. Interestingly, the file size stays 5760px3840p? I'm not sure how that works. Dave

What's with all the crowd control ropes, Dave? Do you really have to wind your way through all those?

They typically unlink a "main passage" up to a few rows of winding based on how many people are passing through, but they will leave the middle pieces linked so its less work to "add" rows as crowds grow.

But it appears that there are way more lanes than needed. I realize the UWA makes the distance look much longer than it is, but still...
And it appears that there are people walking up the sides. Are the ropes just there to keep people out of the middle, maybe?

Got my Sigma 30mm 2.8 for the Nex 6. I have to get out and really put it through its paces, but for a casual shot from my desk, so far I am impressed. ISO 2000 1/60 at 2.8.

I love that classic look. I've got a friend with a Sony, using his Zeiss lenses, but this looks just as good. Dave
