I finally got ISTA working on my M3 MacBook running Windows in UTM.

I had a few issues and was starting to question why I didn't just buy a cheap Windows laptop, but I'm happy to finally have it working.

No fault codes except for the "DME: No Coding" that I haven't coded out yet.

Swapped in a better condition hood and driver fender, detailed her up and then did meguiar’s headlight restoration. Next will take a crack at touch up paint and ordered painted towhook/headlight washer covers off eBay. Trying to keep her looking decent at 227,000 miles.

Which valve cover did you use? Any concerns with regards to the quality and gaskets?

Makes everything look so much cleaner. I’ve been eyeing these. May need to start eBay searching for a good deal

Mpartssw(ebay) is usually who I buy from personally. I don't know what a good deal or bad deal is but I come from an f10 m5 so when I bought this I thought it was on the cheaper end 🤔

2008 with fresh Valeo assemblies and buffed fog lamps though I still need a new bumper. Someone said before the amber in pre-LCI headlamps is ugly. I really don't get it. Feel like LCI lamps would look weird.

It all comes down to preference. I replaced the lens on the headlights of my e82 and painted a couple things to give it a “better look”, I quote this because I like the way it turned out but I never removed the amber and people say o should have but I like the amber as well.

Been a while since I’ve been here when I had a 2006 328i, but picked up a little project 2008 328i Coupe today. Has a coolant leak but the “come get it and it’s yours” offer was just too good to pass up. And I like me a little challenge every now and then. Didn’t even try to diagnose it as of yet and it will have to wait for a bit more, but I’ll get to it in the next couple of months.

It’s a two owner car with just 110K miles. Got it from my daughter’s best friend who has owned it for the last 11 years and put only 25K miles on it. Been sitting outside the last year or so, so it’s dirty as hell and the clearcoat hasn’t liked it much, either. Needs some elbow grease, for sure. But the body is nice and straight and interior is really clean.

EDIT: Tried to post pics, but the site gives me trouble.

Looks great! So nice to see fresh Valeo headlamps. I'll always be torn between the two, felt the Pre-LCI was the last of that BMW austere feeling with the wide hood which I just love. With the LCI, and updated lines in the hood, they started their move into more of the sportier territory which is also timeless and clean.

Just because...

I know Mitchell underwent this recently but any thoughts on front driveshaft replacements? Worth the 150 dollar savings going with an eBay vs FCP variant? Trying to tackle a nasty noise

After I installing the black headliner, I noticed the interior halogen lights are not enough. Even though I like the classic look of the halogen bulbs; I had to swap them for white LEDs for a better illumination.

Been chasing vibrations in this car for ages after buying brand new apex wheels and new Michelins and having them rebalanced a million times.

Today I got sick of it and put the car in the air.

The rear wheels visibly shake as if it they’re bent as shit when running in the air.

Took the wheels off. Face of the rotor perfect no vibration

Put my old 17in style 286 on the same axles, 0 visible vibration.

The apex wheels shake in and out, are visibly out of round in the center of the lug bolts and hop up and down around the circumference. It’s almost impossible to show this on video due to the phone stabilizing footage.

Is it possible the tires are out of round, and not the wheels? I would recommend going to a shop that can measure roadforce. Assuming your wheels are perfectly true, which they probably are, any abnormal roadforce (above 15) is due to a problematic tire, in which the only remedy is to simply replace the tire.

I can visibly see the wheel itself moving out of round at the hub and at the lip.

I had a supposedly good shop play with these wheels and tires so many times with a road force machine they have turned these wheels and tires a lot.

First time supposedly they got 10 of road force on each assembly wow how amazing turns out it was bs it vibrated, next times I took it they never got 10 again.

Its become a massive waste of time to have to pay people to figure out an issue I can visibly see as wrong

Odd to hear Apex wheels getting bent, they're supposed to be quality wheels. Most experienced technicians would be able to discern a bent wheel when its spinning on the balancing machine, perhaps complain that they never found a very visible issue and try to get some money back.

Honestly as a mechanic myself I have a very lowly opinion of most technicians that work in automotive, specially ones that work tires.

I have previously had legit bent wheels and every time I took them somewhere they’d just rebalance with a bunch of weights like clueless idiots. And could never go and tell you yeah they’re bent even if the car went there for that complaint.

I’ve also noticed most people are perfectly okay with vibrating cars, so that’s likely why many Apex buyers haven’t complained about it. Maybe I got a bad set though.

My steering wheel shakes visibly left and right at just 45mph. Alignment is spot on, suspension is great.

I already contacted apex we will see.
