Restored my pitted front Fogs
The pitted, hazey fogs were grinding on me so I whipped them off, 800 grit - 2500 grit - 3000 grit then polished with rubbing compound. Just need some sealant now but the results are impressive.

Here's the result. 3hrs graft and all sanded / polished by hand.

Yes, the sealant will be for UV protection and to protect against salt and oxidisation. I'm not certain how necessary it is but while I'm at it, may as well do a proper job.

Bought the car with an oil leak. Figured it was the valve cover gasket. Had that replaced by an independent with a BMW tech on staff. We also figured out pretty quickly that it needed a starter. He says, you can wait until it fails if you want to. Mind you the car already has a new battery and battery cable.
Was getting the rear pads on the S60 done at my independent Volvo tech's when I mentioned the 3's starter. He said no, shouldn't wait, so I said OK, let's do it.  My guy found the oil leak. Besides the oil filter housing gasket, one of the head bolts was broken. Plus the bad starter was pulling 220 amps, 100 more than it should.

Installed my BMS intake and JB4 since I just sold the Cobb V3.
Next up: front and rear differential flush and transfer case flush.

Booked mine in for a tint and ordered some gloss black grilles. Thinking of ordering a Nexus 5 off ebay so I can run the MHD monitoring app in-car. I like checking oil, coolant and IATs on the fly.

I think those wheels are a bit too aggressive for the car? Maybe if you started with a full M-Sport model they would look more at home. Is that why you're looking for something new?

Cleaned up some vandalism (yesterday) from leaving my car street parked too long while on vacation. Nothing says "welcome home" like finding this after a 13hr flight.
Before and 50/50 photo. It's probably 99.9% cleaned up by now, and the rest I'll take care of after winter. |
