I just sold my SS 1LE. Absolutely amazing on track, drives like a much smaller car. I fit 305 and 325 width tires on and the amount of mechanic grip between those and the eLSD was ridiculous around Sebring. But the fastest 1LEs are the lightweight cars with stripped interiors and cf body panels. One guy got his down to 3400lbs and it's bonkers how cheap and fast that thing is.

Lol no. No way I'd trade my dct for the 8sp. And I've daily driven a dct (f82/f87cs) for about 5 years now. I drive it in manual about 90% of the time and that's honestly the way it's meant to be imo. If you drive in manual and throttle modulate you can get rid of all the jerkiness that people complain about. The up and especially downshifts on the dct just don't match up at all on the 8sp. I've driven the g80 but not the g87. Idk if they did any tuning in-between the platforms. The GTS dct tune is something I'd recommend to all that don't have a CS dct

Says someone who boils an entire car down to a single spec.
There’s a lot more to the way a car feels and performs than weight. I can throw all-seasons on a car and make it instantly feel and perform 500+ pounds heavier than it is. That’s before touching suspension, chassis rigidity, brakes and brake pedal calibration, power steering assist and steering calibration, engine power and throttle calibration, transmission gearing, and aero. Go drive an E46 M3 and a G87 back to back. The E46 is supposed to be 400 pounds lighter. You’d never guess behind the wheel. In fact, practically everyone complaining about weight would believe it if BMW M said the G87 weighed 3400 pounds. |

It, however, is a much bigger car. Going from an E82 to a G87 feels like going from a 3 series to a 7 series… lots of attention needed manoeuvring in parking lots and such. |

Maybe I should get one, but leave it wrapped in camo vinyl, because that seems to be the only way it looks good. Hide every hideous line possible.

Even the CSL has some body roll, these cars are not stiffly sprung like a GT3.

Yes, the G87 certainly has a larger footprint than the older cars. I drove an E36 M3 coupe back to back with my G87 6MT and the difference was stark. It reminded me of one my favorite things about the E36 - the amazing view forward. The road feels so close, like the car has no hood or engine bay. Very unique experience vs. modern cars. I love it.

I saw a test mule run by my neighborhood not too long ago. Well after the launch of the M2 and it definitely didn't have the csl hood - I would've noticed that for sure.
So if it wasn't the base M2 and it wasn't the csl...... (Lots of test mules by me, especially BMW and Porsche) Edit: Shit. It had the same duckbill as this one so I might be incorrect. It was probably the csl. |
