I am sorry for the dumb question, but i have been at this for days--will this install natively on windows 10 Pro? Someone mentioned XP, i tried using hyper-V but i cannot get my cable to be seen by win xp virtual machine, only by windows 10. can i install in 10 or do i need to downgrade to 7? any help appreciated....

It will install on Windows 10, you just have to run in compatibility mode.

I am new to this whole coding thing. Followed the step-by-step instructions and it looks like it is running correctly on the laptop. Now...I have no idea what to do with the software. Where can I find information on how to register the battery? I haven't hooked up to the car yet as I was hoping to find some step-by-step/DIY on how it is done. I am a little weary of just clicking things as I don't want to mess anything up. Thanks.

So I plugged the laptop into my car tonight and under chassis I selected E89 but under module I see about 12 choices under MSD80 (build date of 4-07). How do I know which MSD80 to select?

Thanks for the detailed guide. This looks really promising. The hardest part in getting things loaded for me - because I have a Mac - is setting up a Win7 VM, tying ports that that, etc.. Absent that, this whole process would probably take download time - whatever that is for each person - and maybe 1 hour to familiarize yourself with what you're trying to accomplish at each step...


For a late 2007 build 335xi, would I need to look in the software (INPA, for example) for MSD81 or would I use everything under MSD80 - if anyone knows?? Based on my VIN, i think my brain box is MSD81..

I'm trying to get my ICOM A2 clone working but it seems that the instance of EBAS32 that's kicked-of by NCSExpert isn't reading the EDIABAS.ini.

See attached pictures contrasting the behaviour with when I run WinKFP, or Took32.

I think my path is OK so any idea how I force it to read EDIBAS.INI which configures it as REMOTE:MOST etc.?

im running into a problem.. when I try to select the NFS default folder EC-APPS that I downloaded, bmw coding tools program says its an invalid NFC folder??? what do I do??? this is the last step I need for this to work and ive tried downloading it 3 different times and selecting it and the same error message comes up. any help???

Make sure you're selecting the NFS folder, not EC-APPS. Also, since some were missing folders due to being empty, make sure your NFS folder contains the following sub folders:

BATCH
BIN
CFGDAT
DATA
DOKU
FORMAT
KMMDAT
SGDAT
TRACE
WORK
