Job

Physician: Family Practice/Geriatrics. I teach in a residency program.

Dean325i ...dude, let it go. Check out the interview of the head ref on NFL network.

If Holmgren had let it go a bit about the goal line call, maybe he would've managed the clock a bit better. He really lost his composure. When Cowher got a call against him he told his players " It DOESN'T MATTER! Go out and play. JUST PLAY!" That's what got them past Indianapolis, as well. Championship teams overcome adversity.

Trying to make sure it covers us and the recent tech and our abilities and reasons for going after these guys and balancing that aganist spying and use of our resources for other uses. It's a sticky issue and FISA itself is outdated since it was passed in the 1970's and technology has advanced way beyond the usefullness of FISA. A new law is needed to balance Intelligence gathering vs personal privacy. We don't just search anyone ya know.

Thanks for the support. Sometimes its hard thinking that some people just don't appericate what all of our soldiers are doing over here and the local sacrifices, acts of valor and bravery which are displayed everyday.

On a side note being shot is no joke (Twice for that matter). One was a clean AP round through my hand...clean shot since it was meant to pierce armor not soft flesh.

The other time was an assassination attempt against me with a soviet sniper rifle (analysts of bullet said Dragnov SVD but could be a different weapon) The only thing that saved me there was that I was walking and carrying a notebook in my hand with about 200 pages on ironically Insurgent tactics. One shot...throgh the notebook right into my SAPI plate...through the plate and lodged into my rib cage. Luckly it didn't have enough force to pass through my body.

But I'm just doing my job...There are people out there making the ultimate sacrifice with lives.
Thanks for all you guys do. My cousin is also serving in Iraq.

I agree with the Patriot Act and am also willing to put up with a little inconvenience at the airport. I have no problem with racial profiling in counter-terrorism, even if people think Chinese nationals are worth watching at Los Alamos (imagine that). Heck, put a parabolic mic on my house for all I care...it'd be boring, though. sigh.

I also do Counter-Intelligence and work with CIA,CIFA,DIA,NSA, and Centcom on a mutitude of projects here in Iraq.

Pay is alright but I love my job...been shot twice...blown up by a suicide bomber at the Ministry of Interior which left me with a concussion and cuts and bruises but otherwise I'm fine...hopefully.

So stressful...lucky after this stunt I'll be back to a semi-stressful job dealing with counterterrorism issues in the United States. One of my biggest projects is try to get FISA rewritten so we can intercept American phone calls and stuff..you be surprised how many times we cannot pursue someone because they fall under the "Amercian entity" in USC code 1801 for FISA.

Looking forward to picking up my 335cic when I get back in 07. (been here since 04)

I have to admit I am a bit skeptical.

Believe what you want to believe bud. If you’re not in the Intelligence Community or keep up with intelligence news I suspect it may come off as "unfounded".

However, this is fact; most people who are wounded here are RTD Returned to Duty. A gunshot wound (and a clean one at that) is not a serious wound especially since the round was an AP round and not meant to break apart in human flesh. The round was mean to pierce armor and treated my hand as such.

I had a choice and chose to stay. Why? Because I have been working here for a long time and I want to complete my assignments and projects. Furthermore I want to be here for the rewards/accomplishments of the INIS due to hard work, determination, and I also want to see the people I have trained and worked alongside with achieve those goals. I have worked along side the Iraqi's for a couple of years now and developed a cordial relationship with them. Leaving right now due to some superficial wound in my book is unacceptable.

Yes, I don't have a job title and description because having one would complicate matters in this country. Its the same way with the government stuff in Colorado. Disclosing the fact of specific facilities that do specific stuff in Colorado that we specifically are not supposed to do would also complicate matters as well. Same matter, same concept.

The FISA matter...it was written in the 1970's and needs to be updated. Currently the NIC, and other national level organizations are trying to write another FISA that can be applied to today's world. My involvement is only as a SME "subject matter expert" on a couple communication, spying, warrant, issues between "nation-states" "host governments" "domestic law enforcement" "domestic spying and techniques" and DoD. FISA needs to be ironed out so we don't have problems. FISA warrants and wiretapping take months when we don’t have months when it comes to “actionable intelligence”.

Just like the guys who were caught in Ohio...you think that was merely a FBI/local PD endeavor? Without the Patriot Act we would not have been able to speak, share info, or talk about stuff in particular. The Patriot Act allows information sharing among military, domestic, and international agencies...something that has hindered our capability for a while.

Fine, then I am sure you are aware that CONGRESS writes laws, even FISA. Are you a congressman/senator?

And, I am sure you are also aware that right after telling us you cant tell us what you do, you then went ahead and told us what you do. If you really did something you could not speak about, you would not have even bothered to say anything.

Yes, Congress writes laws. Do you think Senators and Congressman dream up ideas in their head or do they consult with experts in the field? When drafting a new law lawyers, experts, economists, etc... all have their say when drafting the law. For example an FISA law would be worked on by experts in the field. Same for agriculture, stem-cell research, taxes, economic policy or any other law being criminal, farming, medical, etc.

You think a senator could come up with a new tax code by himself? Experts have the say on issues such as laws and national policy.

It would be a disservice to the US if a Senator drafted a law he has no knowledge about. I would find that very surprising and dangerous.

I said job title and description. What I do is work with Iraqi's in the INIS and with US organizations. That doesn't constitute a job title or description. That doesn’t even give you anything to go on about actually. You can just prove that a US person works with Iraqi’s and the United States at the INIS. What else can you prove or abstract from that statement? In my case, I could extract a lot more than you ever could in 2 years but that’s for another argument.

Sample job title I've held:
Interrogator/ Humint Collector. Job description conducts interrogators for intelligence or "actionable intelligence". blah...blah...blah. Assists in production and dissemination of intelligence related material. Establishes sources and local contact for procurement of reliable intelligence information. Blah…blah…blah

Please before you respond think things out for a second. I cannot believe that you as a college educated person believe that Congress and Senators don’t talk or receive input, ideas, considerations, concerns, from SME’s. Just what world are you living in?

I see you are trying to take this personal. I refuse to get into an argument over aesthetics. I said 1970's. You say 1978. TITLE 50 > CHAPTER 36 > SUBCHAPTER I > § 1801
To be specific. This needs clarification. Along with other Chapters of US Code Title 50 (War and National Defense).

There is that specific enough for you? You need what month and date as well and the voting records of the law...I can get those too as well?
