You're slipping. You need to tighten up your game. That was a floater over the plate that should have been hit out of the park!!

I know, I know. You can't see me, but I'm hanging my head in shame, and I shall try to do better. I was caught up in a conflict between my brain and my sense of etiquette.

As well you should be. I've come to expect a certain standard from you.

No teasing. I shall endeavor to give a report that satisfies everyone.

Actually, same said one might know a whole lot more about growing and harvesting stuff in the forest and grinding it up into a form that fits nicely into little baggies.

But you were close. Oh so close.

I still think we should take MK's stuff and that he should let us. Is Lenny still up for the trip to do the tango with MK (under your expert tutelage of course)?

Just be yourself.

Edit: I already spoke Spanish rather well when I met my wife(14 years ago) so that was the icebreaker, she did not speak English(she understands it) let alone Dutch.
At home we speak Spanish lol and I have more than a few German clients(I'm living an hour driving from trhe German border) so after work my head is full of different languages but Dutch. .....

My dad's brother was working at Dutch embassies in Costa Rica/Colombia decades ago and I visited him sometimes in the meantime learning Spanish.
Because at that time(we're talking 1990) with English you could not communicate even at Bogota airport I remember....

Cheers
Robin

Time for my old fart rant du jour. Today's topic is making change.

Back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth and I was in school, I had a job working as the overnight cashier in a small convenience-type store. From day one, we were told that it was mandatory to set whatever the customer paid to you aside in plain sight, in case they disputed the amount paid. We were not permitted to use the register to tell us what the change should be, and had to hand the customer the coins followed by a count-back of the paper money so both parties could see each bill before handing them over.

Today's cashiers just wad up the coins and bills into a ball, and drop them into your hand with no count-back or anything.

I was at a store yesterday, and my total was $11.01. Because I'm an old fart, I gave the cashier a $20.00 bill and the penny that I was going to use in the gumball machines by the exit doors. What did the cashier hand me back? A pile of coins in a receipt ball. No paper money, and it certainly didn't feel like $9.00 in coins. Of course, the cashier put my money into the till and closed the drawer before the transaction was completed.

Call the manager over. Have to explain that the bill was $11.01, and I handed your cashier a $20.00 bill and a penny. The change that I received was that wadded-up receipt with coins in it that I did not even open because it was obviously incorrect. The manager took two minutes to open the register drawer, and another minute or so punching 20.01-11.01= into his smartphone calculator app to figure out that the correct change was $9.00 and no coins.

Where did our generation go wrong? More importantly, is society doomed because people cannot perform basic math or process cash transactions any more?????

1. All of this has one cause that I can point to: The dreaded participation trophy. This is the first thing that I can actually point to that lowered standards.

2. Yes.

That is all.

Mathematical and scientific illiteracy are epidemic, thanks to the takeover of our schools by Progressives. The graduates can't count to 11 without taking off a shoe, but they know for certain that there are 35,284 different genders.

From what I’ve seen, throw penmanship / cursive writing in there too. So much for reading, writing and arithmetic.

You're right, but that's a lesser evil.

My beef with mathematical and scientific illiteracy comes into play when we're voting to pick from among candidates with various stands on a particular issue. I want the other voters to know at least the basics of statistics so they can look upon the candidates' claims with some informed scepticism. It's not too much to expect.

If candidate Richard Cranium states that "it's warmer now than it's been in the last 500 years" I don't want to be the only one who knows how to vet that claim. The politicians we've elected have revealed technical illiteracy on many occasions. Perhaps we'd get better laws and regulations if we didn't elect fuck-tards who thought that the "median" was just that grassy area in the middle of a parkway.
