I'm still seeding the disc 1 ISO and plan to leave it up for a couple days...I hope some other people do the same - client says 2 other peers and 0 seeds. Yikes.

Btw I was only able to get disc 1 without speed cams...the sendspace link to the disc with cams seems to be dead, as juan pointed out above.

Just a dumb question, how do we use two disks? Is it supposed to load disk 1, then after upgrade, load disk 2 and leaving disk 2 in the dvd-nav?

Hi,

downloading from the latest links...

I noticed that the first disk is less size than usual - assuming that it's for NA East. Does it include all POI?

since you live in CA - you just use disk 2. Disk 1 is for East Coast

I downloaded both disk 1 and disk 2. I am in Texas so I used CD 1. Burned it using imgburn on the lowest setting with verbatim CD-R. I pop in the disk in the bmw and it does not reconize it at all. All it say's is please insert navigation disk. I burned 2009.1 with dual layer disk and it worked fine. What am I doing wrong? Should I be using dual layer for just one CD?

It's worth a shot to try the DL disc...there's a lot of variance between DVD burners and DVD readers. For example, there was a time when wii games could only be burned by one or two different burners...

Firmware?

Quick question ... Do I need to update the firmware before trying to load the DVD? I've been reading here and there about the v32 updates so I'm not sure if that must be done before I can run the maps. I haven't updated my Nav or anything and I bought the car in 07 so I'm new to this. Thanks!

Still no go on the DVD DL. It just will not read the disk. I have an 08 335i never been to the dealer for any updates. I should be able to run it correct?

Success

Did it! Didn't need that v32 update. I'll put my step by step instructions up in a few min. I have a mac so it may be a little different than other peoples. But the concept is the same. The only dif will be in the program used to burn the ISO image to DVD.

the problem is most of you are probably just burning a DVD. this is an .ISO file that needs to have the image burned not just dumping the file on a dvd.

As the post above said to this, you might be burning this wrong. Make sure you burn the disc from the image (there should be a special menu for this), and aren't just adding the file to be burned. You should see a ton of files on the disc.

What program are you using to burn?

Great job keeping the seeding up... I downloaded one disk in like 45 min at 1.3M/sec!!

I burned the ISO, put it in the drive and got the "new disk, please shut down the system and restart in 5 mins".

Does this mean: insert disk, turn car off for 5 min and then I should be good to go?

I tried the aforementioned method, turned my car on, went to navi screen. Everything was there except the map and after 10 seconds, I received a "dvd read error, please check DVD"

When I replace it with my OEM nav disk, it works

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

FWIW: my current OEM disk is 2007

I am using imgburn. I am burning it correctly, same way I burn my xbox 360 games that are iso format. I burned the 2009 disk (iso) and it worked just fine. That is why I am so confused on why it wont work. I am going to try a different program to see what happens.

Bought mine last week and got the two disk NA version. Nothing seems different from my 07 version except the data is newer as far as Roads, Businesses, etc. Takes about 5 min for the update to be written to the system HD but you still need to have one of the disks in the DVD drive to use the Navigation. Depending on which half of the country you live in, you select disk 1 or 2.

In my experience, 2009 is better than 2010. Mine 2009 never misguided me, but 2010 had couple times and I got really pissed when that happen. It got to the point that I can't stand it anymore, so I stopped on the freeway to throw it dish out and put my 2009 in. Maybe 2011 will be better.

Is there any way to burn both these discs to one DL DVD so you never have to switch? is that a possibility ? or am i crazy for thinking it should be possible if you extract the ISO's and combine them.
