The 5 of you in this thread that are worried about what BMS did or said in the past only hits your nerves. The new people on this board or the thouusands of people who don't come on this board could really give 2 sh*ts about the drama. Bottom line, this product will sell and continue to sell due to the cost factor, customer service and word of mouth.
Maybe, but I know the frustration when people copy your idea and reap the benefits of your R&D. And when those people have been trashing your product up to the point where they copy it, it adds insult to injury. That "business model" just frustrates me immensely. As was said above, it's one thing with large scale, mass production stuff, but when these low-production units with few developers behind them are being copied and exploited, that's someone's livelihood you're messing with.

That said, I hope this doesn't turn out to be the case. I'm only going off of what has been posted so far. I am 100% for competition - I believe it is the driver of innovation - but it should be genuine competition, not coat-tail riding.

The magic is really with the PCB design and when complete perhaps a real EE can look at both boards and determine if they are similar or if one is using a higher level of technology with more modern, faster, and generally superior components.

Mike

I hope that's the case. Guess we'll see when the hardware comes out.

Well a lot of BMW owners are married, lol, some might argue that's worse than being single.. Don't tell my wife I said that - she is so hot and sexy!

Return to topic... In this dip****'s humble opinion... Competion breeds success. What if Kobe didn't emulate Jordan and aspire to be better than him ( although) he never could be... What if BMW didn't have the Audi, merc, or even Subaru/ Mitsubishi to compete with? Even Microsoft had to give money to apple at one point to avoid a monopoly, we could go on about this concept. I'm trying out a new tune... The big players here have a good chunck of change from me at the moment. If this wasn't a 'hobby' I'd be pissed, instead I'm stoked. The only thing that gets me upset are vendor lies. (newbs, coming from a semi noob, common sense says to rad as many reviews and educate yourself on facts with your own research or better yet, an unbiased 3rd party's opionion that can back up what they say with facts - no angle...). Otherwise, 'cheers' I'll toast u to being dumb and wasting money like me - not talking bms here either.

Sorry to wander. Nothing against bms either, maybe they should put black on that new case... Whatever...

One last thought, is it just me, or has a Korean car manufacturer unabashedly copied multiple other car companies design? They've risen a bit from the toilet bowl the started in by doing so to.

There's to sides to the coin I guess and, therefore, two sets of fanboi's

Just so everyone knows, there are not that many manufacturers of connectors and extruded aluminum electronics cases. It should not be a surprise that both may use a similar case as that is what is commonly available. Neither Vishnu nor BMW will have an aluminum die cut for a custom extruded case. The needs are similar so the board size will be similar and as such the case will be similar if not the same.

In addition, with the additional components (which I will refrain from harping on in this thread, that will come once more is known, but I suspect some of the JB3 "safety features" will no longer be relevant) more heat will be generated and the aluminum case is a great heat transfer agent. But more so, it provides greater protection in handling as well as mounts for the board and connector. It is simply a better choice.

Wait 'til some one from South Korea and/or China tap into this tuning Market. They will call their product "Genuine replicas" and sell it for one third of the price...

Regardless of what is copied, the tunes are still very different in their function, although their are similarities, there is only few ways of controlling fuel, ignition, boost, etc in a car.... so they are bound to be close (generally speaking).

I wouldn't... just adds extra weight that won't help with 1/4 mile times...

You guys are bad.
I do agree if that box is offered, anodizing the box would be a great idea to distinguish the boxes apart in the aftermarket.

The BMS crew is hard at work on firmware development and sent over this video of the CPS offsetting testing in action. While they wait for the new PCB to come in they're using a development/test board so no time is wasted. It's amazing how small these processors have gotten in recent years. This one is actually one or two steps lower than the model being used on the new board but is still smaller than a finger nail and more than 20x faster than the JB3 processor!

You've got all the tools now that you need to do it. It will just come down to great weather and a greater launch!
