Hi,
Can Irv or someone who is familiar with ED tell me, if I can show up at ED center in Munich, do the paperwork and have BMW center there ship it to Harms themselves for an extra fee? I might be doing a stopover in Munich on a multiple city iternary and wanted to know if it is possible? Does the ED centre do that, or do I have ot physically drive it to Harms and drop off myself. I might be in a rush and jetlagged, and the thought of learning about signals and roadsigns just to drop it to Harms is not too appeasing to me. -Sal |

i'm not sure BMW dealerships are obligated to work together or not... it doesn't appear to be as autonomous as say buying a digicam from circuitcity and they ship one over from another store's stock w/o anything against you. |

i ordered a 335i sedan w/ ED yesterday. didn't get the delivery date confirmed yet, but i asked for dec 21st which sounded doable.
my big worry is the weather conditions in Munich late december. anyone who picked up around that time of the year? what should i expect? i have the sport package so probably not great to drive if there's snow/ice, etc. i want to drive the car to france, and drop it off in paris to fly back to the US from there |

You can see if your local dealer will be nice enough to do a courtesy delivery but they are under no obligation. Many dealerships will do this but whether they say yes or no depends on a number of factors. You will pay a minimum of $500 for this btw.

Is there a possibility to get the factory to pre-install all-seasons instead? Anyone done that? I don't think there are winter tires out there that would fit on the ZSP 18" wheels. Best would be for them to give me the car with all seasons, and have them change them to summer after i drop it off ![]() ![]()

In my experience with other dealers, most of them do not want to do courtesy deliveries as they didn't get the order in the first place ( because they aren't ED friendly ) and even though they make more on service/warranty work, they don't want to do it.So, on redelivery,my customers get to relive their ED by driving it home, the furthest so far is 1K..

As ED usually doesn't come out of dealer allocation, and the dealer can make profit beyond the ED invoice, there doesn't seem to be a real downside for the dealers (unless they believe that all potential buyers will flock to them). On the west coast of Florida almost all dealers will process a ED, and the one that doesn't has lost a lot of repeat business.

i have a quick question regarding those who have done ED, basically, if you trade in your car, then what do you drive in the period of when you trade it in and actually receive the car? do most people just rent a car for the month or so period?

I assume that if you trade in a car and opt for ED, the dealership gets the trade in and you are on your own for the period between final transaction and delivery in U.S. Just a word to the wise, always check CarMax prior to making a trade with a dealer. Often, CarMax will give you more cash than the new car dealer will in a trade in. The benefit of a trade in is that you decrease the bottom line price, and you are only taxed on the bottom line.

I just keep my old car until the new one gets back to the states.
