Stop complaining. Anytime a company comes out with a new product, the current product is going to decrease in value. But, that isn't even necessarily the case with the V4 since you have the option of not upgrading and keeping it unlocked and selling it as such. This would likely increase the value.

You don't HAVE to upgrade and you don't HAVE to pay the $150, so stop whining.

The $150 probably helps to cover all of the time spent on the people buying used tunes and then getting Shiv to fix them and offer support for free. Most companies wouldn't do this for free and it's fair for them to charge for it.

I check this page every day to hopefully find more useful info but all I hear is people trash talking and talking about how they are nickel and diming. What if they stopped doing tunes all together and gave no future support at their own free will? What if they didn't VIN lock in the future but never came out with a V5 and stopped making upgrades for the V4? Then named their V5 something completely different and made a new line of tunes that had the same guidelines as V5? They could do that too. They could start a different company all together and cut all ties if they wanted to nickel and dime. It sucks but it is just the way they are doing it. Back in the day, Microsoft Office was included for free with all Windows computers. Now you have to pay for a license. It sucks too, but you have to pay to keep the support going. If they (Vishnu) was not here to make money, it would be a bunch of volunteer work and the products and updates, if any at all, would be subpar. With as much time as these guys put into this, to give "the best tune out", you should be happy to support the business and keep it going. If it were my company, I sure as Hell wouldn't put my heart and soul into something like this and not expect to make a profit. They are not here selling their products to make sure have a high resell value. They want you to buy new products from them! It keeps them in business! Do you really think Steve Jobs keeps putting out better products with their old products' resell value in mind? Absolutely not.

To be honest, I think this is a great marketing plan for them. I have been shopping and researching tunes for over 3 months. I was waiting until the JB4 came out to put in my order. I liked what features the Procede has over the JB, but didn't want to spend the extra $400. Now that I saw that I can get the V5 for $645, I am ordering it. And I think there will be a lot of people like me who can see spending an additional $115 over the JB to get a "more advanced" tune. I know I probably just pissed a lot of people off and I am sorry if I offended anyone. But in all honesty, these guys are here to grow their business by selling more new products and will still give future support to their current customers. I honestly don't think too many people here are going to sell their tunes and go to a different one because of this. Some might, but I bet they make more customers than they lose over this.

Bunch of crybabies in ITT, seriously.

You bought the tune to make your car faster, which it does fine.
Buying performance parts to sell them used is not a good way to make money :P

If you're that worried about resale value of your V4, DON'T UPGRADE TO V5!!!
I know I will (Upgrade that is)

Thanks Shiv and your Team for your continued hard work on the Procede.
Also thanks for developing features for our product that we didn't even know of at the time of purchase, and for providing those features to us free of any additional charge. Those whining about $150 lost in 'resale value' know where they can shove it.

Love, a very satisfied customer

Shipping charges double with na maps

Hey shiv, was about to place an order with na maps but I see that shipping charges double when I add the na maps option. Is this a website glitch ?

Yes indeed... that's a glitch You can ignore the shipping charge for the maps. Also, keep in mind that those calculated numbers aren't necessary the final numbers. The order gets recalculated (by a human) once the order is put into Quickbooks. So the online order form does nothing more than give us customer information. The real order is placed when we transfer the info from the online order form to our sales computers. And, of course, we will double-check everything before punching in the final amount and charging you. I'm currently working on the glitch though... hope to have it sorted out by tomorrow!

Shiv, please can you something up because we hear both versions...
If we (current Rev2-V4 owners) update to V5 will the device be locked for ever to our VIN or will it be unlocked so we could sell it one day to other users using the V5 without the 150$ cost?

PS. Not that I'm interesting selling it ever...!!!

He is a businessman afterall, what do you expect? Don't take it as an insult, but comeon, if you intend to sell it later stick with the V4, pretty damn good as it is, and not like V5 will give any better performance by any reasonable expectation. If you upgrade to V5, I am pretty sure only way he'd unlock it, is for you to use on your own replacement car. Otherwise it makes no business sense.

this is a great business structure for both Vishnu and the end user. I like it.

RambleJ, your Avatar is pretty much what I expect you look like when you post about Vishnu.

We will eventually offer the same pricing structure for the n55. But not until next year. As for different transmissions, that can be done by simply uploading a different map file (.pcd). That's not restricted.

I agree with most of what you have said regarding the business aspect...however, we are the consumer. We do not profit from Vishnu charging licensing fees. We do not profit from having to pay for future features. We do not profit from dropped resale values.

I really don't understand why people are to these new changes to their business strategy. Can I now buy stock in Vishnu??

For real. You came up with the money to buy a BMW, but $150 bucks is an issue? Hell even MS Windows locks its self to a given computer. If you want it on another one you have to pay for windows AGAIN.

Shiv - Can you be any more specific on the timing of the release of the N55 enthusiest version - are you looking around the first of the year or somewhere further down the line.

Also, I noticed that the write up in the N55 section of your website talks about the performance increases for the N54 motor - and not the N55. The Dyno Graph seems to be for the N55 but not the summary of the performance one can expect.

thanks

I'm really excited for the unlocked tuning maps, personally. That'll be huge for anyone looking to really squeeze 10/10ths out of their car, and do so safely.
