Those 6 characters which Cobb uses as ECU identifiers are actually the last 6 digits of your DME program reference number. The DME stores the last 16 program version reference numbers in its memory. It is designed to for dealerships to check how often and which updates have been performed on your DME. Think of it as a log of all updates BMW did to your car:

Linear Map convert
Hello, another satisfied user of v4.00 Sport LT here. I have a 6MT so the linear map is really good for me. I used to have a hard time modulating the throttle at 1st and 2nd gears (too sensitive) especially during stop-and-go traffic situations. Now I can drive off much smoother, off the boost unless I need it
Well done COBB! Last edited by BongC36; 03-21-2012 at 12:59 PM.. |

Stage 1+ dyno
For some reason I lost 18whp using 4.0 stage 1+ verses 3.01 Stage 1
I picked up torque in lower rpms but lost power in high rpms. solid line is the 1+ sport ST.... mods are ETS 5" and drop in air filter. http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...1&d=1332454763 |

well you are making more boost down low but less boost up in the rpms... why? is this stage1+ agg vs stage 1 agg?

The old stage1 agg is the dashed line that starts lower but ending up with higher power. Based on these results I am better off with the stage 1 and not the 1+. |

BTW are these corrected plots, and were they run back to back? edit: also wonder if any timing was being pulled on the 2 v400's, seems odd aggressive is almost identical to sport. |

With the COBB additional fueling, and lower target AFR's lower in the revs compared to the other tunes, are there any concerns with fuel wash long term?

I would say I am a victim of diminishing returns if more boost yields less HP in the high rpms. Maybe I need a free flowing exhaust, but going by what COBB recommends all i need is the IC , but maybe we need more?? |

Installed this morning and it took 10 mins to change the map from v3 to the v4 beta. Usually it's 1 min between v3 maps Smoother as the lump around 3k is virtually gone. Does not feel as aggressive as the v3 but that could be due to the smoothness. Need 1/4 times to compare. A few wot pulls registered about 1 psi lower boost vs v3. All aggressive with linear throttle comparisons with 93 oct One mile after install the half engine light came on and engine virtually died worst than with the limp mode no power at all. A code was thrown that had something with an internal dme error in not getting torque values. Can't remember the actual code. Restart the car and it's been fine all day. |

I think Cobb has less of a possibility of fuel wetting than the other tunes. Cobb runs the stock fuel rail pressure(this is 100% true, log it yourself) and just "opens up" the injector duration table so that it can run as much(or little) dwell as required. Piggys just crank the rail pressure and hope for the best(not exactly, but pretty much)
