I wonder who discovered that Alpina flash can work on standart AT module, maybe that guy can answer MDM question also.

I know that e46 M3 can be flashed with CSL program and M track mode can be enabled. I did that for one car.
Also I know that MDM can be added for e92 M3 which didnt had it from factory. I so much hope that it can be done for our cars also.
If needen I even ready to buy DSC module from M3.

A russian guy name Tomaz let the cat out of the bag on the "other" forum recently on the availability of the Alpina flash via the Daten files, but from what I gather the flash itself had been available to others for a while. A south african dude here on this forum said he'd been running it since 09, and then several versions/revisions of it so I guess it has been floating around for years.

Interesting story. Ill try to find him.

MDM should be available on DATEN files also to reflash current DSC module to M3 version. And then it is very easy to retrofit MDM mode by adding FA to VO.

I don't know anything much about the MDM mode but I do know there is nothing like the e-LSD part of DSC on the M3, they have a true LSD. No EDC on a non-M, etc. Like Enrita said hardware that implements various layers of DSC/DTC M vs non M are very different so not clear what would happen even if it would "take" a reflash.

But who knows it could be something in there (like a subprogram of MDM for the sportier DSC) could be interesting.

Just to make it more interesting my car now have true M LSD 3.15 in it.
And what is MDM you can see here from 2.35

Though I think it would be really nice even without true LSD or combined with after market LSD

Will the OBD2 cable from a Cobb AP work? Or do I need to get one off of eBay?

Doesn't matter. Car still shouldn't overrev in any mode.

Sometimes when I shift in manual mode, my car will rev up for no reason before it shifts into the next gear. It almost feels like its slipping but this only happened like twice

It's my buddy's car and I haven't seen it in person but from what it sounds like the car just keeps accelerating and doesn't even attempt to shift until well past 7k which is very dangerous. Ill take a look at it when I get back in town but I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this also.

Quick Q... I read through a ton of post and think I've got it. Just a few clarifications as I found different answers in different places.

To do the Alpina Flash, I can get away with just using WinKFP v5.1.6?
I ask because I see people using a bunch of tools which just so happen to include it, but just want to verify that's all I need. I have the instructions to set it up.

I've noticed this happening to me too. When I shift up sometimes the rpms shoot up a little bit real quick before it upshifts. Any one else notice this??

Torque converter is not locked out and it feels like it's slipping. Shouldn't be an issue. I noticed that after doing a full adaptation reset and short drive cycle everything felt better.

Special shout-out to wedge, this dude is legit - very knowledgeable, patient and just a plain cool, down to earth guy. That flash is just fantastic; D mode is the "family mode", nice smooth, efficient. Sport/Manual engages the typical SoCal BMW douchbag outta me, I even popped my collar the other day in my pink polo as I burned out into the sunset.

But on a serious note, I noticed that while cruisin' on a long steep downhill, the car shifted into 5th gear, which I thought was pretty neat, the second I hit the gas, it went right back to 6th gear. Car is still adapting but thus far has been pretty stable. Another happy Alpina user.
