I love the idea but I don't want to buy another car. Plus, if I'm going to drive the bimmer only in summer then I'd wanna put it in a garage which is gonna cost $$$. I think I'm gonna lower it and see how it goes, but I may end up taking your advice

Tim, are you lowered?
Yeah i got the KW V1 coils since i have an xi. Nice that I am able to raise it up in the winter and drop it low in the summer. Handeling has also dramatically improved

wtf!! I thought that was only possible with v3! If I can raise it up in the winter, no need for a second car!!

V1 it is!

You may also want to consider KW Street Comforts. They allow for height and rebound adjustments as well.

I was just reading about those kw street comforts. Apparently they also lower the car more than v1s

Based on KW's website, I would assume so, but I do not have firsthand experience. Currently I am on Koni Yellow/OEM ZSP springs (previously Koni Yellow/Eibach Prokit). If I was going to do my suspension from scratch, I would most likely go with KW SC based on the reviews I read.

Tim have you raised it and then lowered it yet? Word of caution, you need to have an alignment done every time you adjust height. You are changing the angles of the suspension thus requiring a new alignment. Also, after one winter or two, the corrosion from the salt is gonna give you fits trying to spin the collars. This was originally my idea when I bought coilovers but after talking to a few tuning shops they all said its ill advised. Plus, I think even the highest setting on the coils is still lower than stock by a decent amount. But as long as you don't dump it to the ground winter shouldn't be that big of a deal. My car is quite low, and it was more the problem of bottoming on frost heaves than the snow plow effect that made me choose to park it.

I havent yet, I want to lower the fronts just a little bit more but yes if major height adjustments are made than alignment will be necessary.

As far as the corrosion you are talking about I have heard that as well and I guess I will see for myself. I found that people who didnt move the collar at all had that problem but I assume if I am changing it twice a year that may help preserve the threads. I guess we will see lol the worst thing would be if it got stuck at a higher height haha that would really piss me off

I have heard advice from people saying that taping over the threads can sometimes help. Also maybe liberally applying antiseize and then taping might help. When I drove my car in the winter the first year I had it I antiseized my wheels and lugs just so the wouldn't be a bitch to take off after the winter.

I'm looking for cheap coilovers guys, let me know if you know anyone selling. New or used. I found kw v1 for $1200, brand new shipped, so I want to spend around $800, otherwise I'll just go buy brand new kw v1s.

Fall is coming, a meet is due!

I'm getting my FMIC installed on the 19th so that next Wednesday or Friday I'll be down to go.
