Remember all the piggies have IAT boost decay. By lowering the IATs, you will keep full boost longer. |

this is especially important when running around on hot days. Summer days around here can be brutally hot and humid, however my 335 still pulled hard on the hottest of days and the IAT logs I did in the heat showed why

Does the Helix intercooler fit an E93 auto trans with standard front bumper? I heard that there is a big difference in between mounting intercoolers behind M-tech bumpers and standard ones. Anybody knowledgeable on this subject? Plz help!

My impression was that the MTech bumpers had more room than stock for aftermarket ICs, but a definitive answer can be made by those that have both.

Wont the stock ECU compensate for the slight loss in boost.

So with a more efficient cooler you get less pressure loss through the cooler. So instead of the boost being 1.2 bar in the IC inlet & 1.0 bar on the IC oulet for instance, you may get 1.2 bar in & 1.2 bar out for a theoretical perfect cooler with no pressure loss. So if the ECu reads 1.2 bar at the MAP, according to the closed look logic it will deem that to be too high & adjust the boost down to 1 bar. So effectively you will end up with the same boost as you had with the stock cooler. BUT, you will do it with less duty cycle. The turbos will be less stressed & the heat build up & efficiency losses at high rpm will be less. And then of course you can turn the boost up to 1.2 bar & use around the same DC at you had on 1bar. |

With your description, 1lb of boost=15whp, so most aftermarket ICs equate to 15-20whp gain dependent on efficiency (assuming you are going to up the boost to meet the original power target)? |

What I said in the in one sentence you said in paragraphs hehe. Boost will stay the same, although the volume of oxygen in the air might be higher hence the possible increase in power, although I think in the 335i case its more a matter of consistant power by keeping intake temperature constant.

When you guys install this in your shop on the 335i, do you ever need to do any trimming?

It did for me. quite a bit actually. the same as in the install link they send you with the FMIC. cut an inch of plastic at the bottom lip and all the excess thick plastic around the mounting screws up to the bumper support.
