One thing I figured out in my discussions with the insurance company is that they often make this mistake because their systems say "6 speed transmission", so they assume that means 6 speed manual.
It is confusing for our cars because both the auto and the manual are 6 speeds.

What's really annoying is when they have poor interior shots and don't actually show the shifter. I had one where I could just barely make out a "P" on the dash as my only clue.

Wow... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...-sports-wagon/

I really can't believe we have entered the world of plus $20k automatic wagons. Not sure if anybody else followed this auction, but that was a damn strong result IMO.

I was following. Miles were low and the car was uber clean but it was far from fully loaded. The winning bidder must have really, really, really wanted that car.

There was a very clean M-Sport that sold a few weeks ago for less. That auction was crazy!

TL/DR - 2011 Space Gray/Oyster, no nav, 103K, $11,500

Good evening guys... I've seen this one online for a while. It seems to be a decent car, and I called on it today. The dealer seems like nice folks, the guy was honest and sent me a few extra pics. Wear on driver's bolster, and pics of valve cover gasket seam and OFHG seam look dry and tight.

Car seems to be in good shape, and a 6MT if anyone is really looking.

*103K, not 193K.

This is a great deal for a 6MT IMO, even without sport. And Oyster looks quite handsome in these, if I'm any judge.

Whoops! Edited and fixed... Yes, car looks good. There is some definite/considerable bolster wear on the driver's seat, but I do like Oyster. I do not like owning Oyster though, its hard to keep clean. Had it in my first X3.

The BaT effect in full force, looks like the auction environment got the better of the buyer. $21500 after fees - a sum that could find a much stronger example elsewhere in the market.

Agree 100%. What does one do with that car now? Put it into daily service and have it lose 70% of its value in a couple of years? I suppose. So the question of the day is if someone had an 2012 E91 M-sport RWD 6MT with all options in LeMans Blue with delivery miles (3) on it that had been stored since new in a conditioned space, what does it sell for on BaT?

These cars are best used, so few are in "collector condition" and there are even fewer buyers for such a car. All you need is one person!

The market being what it is, you can essentially buy and drive for a few years with zero depreciation. Hanging onto ours until it dies.

According to KBB, the private party value of a 3-year old Honda Accord EX-L with 35,000 miles is $20,382-$22,067.

Why not do the same thing with a 35,000 mile BMW that one would do with a 35,000 mile Honda Accord? Both are likely to make it to 100,000 miles.
