They would pull a wheel to check brakes, check tire condition, check operation of lights, signals and horn, check windshield for cracks or obstructions. The rub of it was if you FAILED the inspection, you had to get it repaired, then return to have it re-inspected "or else"...I was too young to remember what "or else" was.

It sucks. I suspect OP lives on the east or west coast.
CR?!?! Whats up!

Would you DIY on the spot? I remember watching a bavauto video a long time ago but thought I could not really do it without access to a lift, and I seem to remember there is a bolt you would just have to feel, you cannot see it?

If I could DIY I'd feel much better, cuz I can get AAA Plus to flatbed me home...

In the last week, oil change, fixed rattle in passenger door from loose window regulator, fixed a door ding in right rear fender, replaced both windshield washer screens that were clogged with algae and fixed the angel eye outside passenger side. Actually my dealer did all this. Quoted me $271 to replace the screens in windshield washer but got it done for free because this is the 4th time. Apparently if you live in the south this is a major problem for BMW. Got the angel eye fixed for free, the bulb my son put in was ascue so it wouldn't work properly and it took a couple minutes to put it in correctly and the ding was fixed with glue pull at the dealer for $90. So spent a grand total of $300 to fix 5 things which I can't complain about.

No, but I have it so I can just take it to an indy and not have to wait for them to order the parts.

Had safelite come look at my cracked windshield. The crack turned out to be larger than I thought because it started in the black area at the bottom of the windshield. Now I get to pay for a new windshield tomorrow!

I did luck out. He told me that in leu of Christmas, he wouldn't peg me for a $320 ticket for going 95 on a 70...but only gave me $113 ticket for not having a current address on my license!! I'll take that...!!
